Not going to stick up for evil no more

Lead detective Roy Mayne testified that defendant Sergio Ramirez acquired a new tattoo after he was arrested, while held in the Vista jail. The mark under Ramirez' right eye is described as the numeral 6, which signifies the sixth letter of the alphabet F, which is said to demonstrate his continued loyalty to the Fallbrook gang. Both attorneys rested their cases this morning, Wednesday, July 30, 2014, and jurors are expected to hear closing argument this afternoon. http://www.sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2014/j…

Prosecutor Bannon asserted that four guns were brought by the killers that night, but only three guns were fired. “One person didn’t pull the trigger, or maybe one gun jams,” she argued to the judge. Lead detective Mark La Vake gave testimony regarding cell phone use and text messages, claiming this tracked the movements of all four defendants around the time of the shooting. http://www.sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2014/j…

Near the end of the hearing, defense attorney Rick Layon asserted that prosecutors’ witnesses "were **not** fully invested in truth-telling." In fact, each defense attorney took turns deriding the credibility of witnesses called by prosecutor Christine Bannon. However, the judge found probable cause to hold all four defendants to answer every charge and allegation. Oceanside man denies stuffing girlfriend's body under bed

The jury got the case to deliberate on July 10, and came back with unanimous verdict mid-day yesterday, July 14. Arturo Salazar was declared guilty of murder in the first-degree, with use of knife. The defendant took the witness box for more than three hours, he told the jury how much he loved the victim, Edith Andrea Garcia. He also said that she had provoked him the night he slit her throat twice, when she said that he was not man enough to do it, after he grabbed the knife. Sentencing is set for August 26 before Honorable Robert Kearney, the same judge who heard the trial. http://www.sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2014/j…

Plus, Bannon stated that, "The defendants also face the *special circumstance* of multiple murder." Escondido police heat up cold murder case

After two days of hearings this week, on July 2 2014 the Honorable Judge Harry Elias ordered Rene Sanchez to face all charges. These include first degree murder, two attempted murders, personal use of handgun, and gang allegations. Oceanside man denies stuffing girlfriend's body under bed

A jury of 3 women and 9 men began hearing evidence yesterday, July 1, 2014, in the murder trial of Arturo Salazar. The defendant pleads not guilty, and has benefit of court-provided Spanish language interpreter. Attorneys' statements suggest that Salazar is expected to take the witness box in his own defense next week, perhaps on Tuesday. After deliberating almost four days, this afternoon, July 1, the jury declared Diego Arturo Martinez not-guilty of first degree murder in the shooting of Robbie Robbins and not-guilty of attempted voluntary manslaughter for shooting Lisa Badgett in the face.
