Murder charged on Nardo Street in Solana Beach
Jade Sasha Janks, 37, was in court by video monitor for about 20 mins this afternoon, Wednesday February 17, 2021. Janks has been in jail on a no-bail hold since her arrest January 2, 2021. Her attorney Rick Crawford requested a $500,000 bail amount, saying Janks has no prior arrests for any violent crime, and she enjoys “overwhelming” community support, and the attorney supplied ten character reference letters to the court. Prosecutor Teresa Pham argued for a continued no-bail hold, claiming Jade Janks’ family is from South Africa, and that Janks is a world traveller, and is a flight risk. The prosecutor further asserted that Janks killed her stepfather after he was recently released from hospital and therefore a particularly vulnerable victim. Honorable judge David Berry set bail at $1 million, and if Janks is able to make bail, the judge ordered Janks to surrender her passport and submit to a GPS ankle monitor within 48 hours of release. Her next court dates are set in March 2021.

Teen girl fights off possible kidnapper
Alan Ray Sasseen, now 62, is back in custody according to the San Diego County Sheriff's jail website. Sasseen is next due in court February 25, 2021. Sasseen was sentenced to 4 years California State Prison when he made a plea deal in December 2018. His current charges are felony failure to register as a sex offender, and misdemeanor indecent exposure. A search of the Megan's Law website, which lists names and photos and convictions of sex offenders, does not show an entry for Alan Sasseen.

Vista child grabber gets four years prison
Alan Ray Sasseen, now 62, is in local custody in San Diego County again. He is next due in court February 25, 2021, now accused of failure to register as a sex offender (felony) and indecent exposure (misdemeanor). He was sentenced to 4 years in prison in December of 2018, but with convoluted calculations he had "custody credits" of 366 days, for various offenses. Records show his first arrest when he was 20 years old, for shooting into an occupied dwelling; he was able to plead out to misdemeanor unlawful exhibiting a firearm.

Dad takes girls to Oceanside's Pit Stop Diner, ends up at Tijuana hotel
Martin Ramirez, 45, appeared briefly in court by video on February 8, 2021. Ramirez was assisted by a Spanish speaking interpreter when he complained that he has not received discovery from the prosecutor. The judge explained that the delay is because he now acts as his own attorney, and the public defender’s office does not want to provide translation from English to Spanish of the 1200 pages from the prosecutor. Ramirez also complained that the Sheriff is not giving him his mail, and he made a last request of the judge, “Yes, I want to request to be set free, because I am innocent.” Honorable judge Sim von Kalinowski ordered Ramirez to continue to be held without bail, and set his next court appearance for February 22.

Parolee runs over motorcycle cop in Oceanside
At a hearing this morning, Thursday, February 4, 2021, defendant Roberto Flores again demanded a speedy trial. “I just wanna make sure! I want my speedy trial! I been asking for it! We were supposed to go!” Honorable judge Carlos Armour spoke of the problems trying to bring hundreds of potential jurors into the courthouse during the current virus scare, and further remarked that probably 700 defendants are making the same complaints that Flores was making. Flores' next court hearing (by video) was set for February 24, 2021. Flores wants to act as his own attorney, and he repeatedly stated, "I want to do a constitutional challenge!" He is allowing defender John Wilschke to assist him, at least he said so at today's hearing.

Murder charged on Nardo Street in Solana Beach
It does seem that defendant Janks intends to fight this murder accusation. Her attorney Rick Crawford already complained in court this morning about "negative" media coverage found in The San Diego READER. Defense attorney Crawford is very experienced and has handled the most serious cases.

Murder charged on Nardo Street in Solana Beach
Today, January 27, 2021, was a court hearing was set to argue bail for Jade Sasha Janks, who is currently on a no-bail hold. But this morning, defense attorney Rick Crawford said he has not yet reviewed “a terabyte of information” he expects to receive from prosecutor Teresa Pham, before he will be prepared to argue bail. Honorable judge Blaine Bowman then set a new bail review date in three weeks, on February 17.

Her next court dates are set in March 2021.— February 17, 2021 2:27 p.m.

Records show his first arrest when he was 20 years old, for shooting into an occupied dwelling; he was able to plead out to misdemeanor unlawful exhibiting a firearm.— February 13, 2021 11:12 a.m.

Ramirez also complained that the Sheriff is not giving him his mail, and he made a last request of the judge, “Yes, I want to request to be set free, because I am innocent.” Honorable judge Sim von Kalinowski ordered Ramirez to continue to be held without bail, and set his next court appearance for February 22. http://www.sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2021/f…— February 8, 2021 10:30 a.m.
Flores wants to act as his own attorney, and he repeatedly stated, "I want to do a constitutional challenge!" He is allowing defender John Wilschke to assist him, at least he said so at today's hearing.— February 4, 2021 10:47 a.m.
