Weldon McDavid shot Greg Mulvihill on secluded dirt path in Carlsbad

Weldon McDavid shot Greg Mulvihill on secluded dirt path in Carlsbad
In a remote video-court-hearing this morning, April 30, 2021, the judge considered disregarding special allegations that McDavid personally used a firearm to inflict great bodily injury on his victim while attempting murder — which effectively doubled his prison term. Defense attorney Rick Crawford protested the Life sentence as cruel and unusual punishment, and disproportionate to the facts of the case. He said that McDavid is working as a law clerk in the prison’s law library, and follows orders, and has only two minor “writeups” after being in State prison for two years. Prosecutor Jodi Breton commented on the irony that McDavid pleaded for a chance to be with his son growing up, but if McDavid had succeeded in his murder attempt, the victim’s son would now be growing up without his father. Hon. judge Sim von Kalinowski, who heard the trial, said that McDavid was a middle-aged man, a husband and a father, a former Marine and firearms instructor, and he fully knew the criminality of his actions. The judge reviewed some of the facts of the case and then upheld the previously declared 50-years-to-Life sentence.

Murder suspects hop fence near Carlsbad lagoon – updated 12-6-21
This morning Honorable judge Amalia Meza recused herself from this case, then she assigned it to Hon. judge Carlos Armour. This in response to a demand by Daniel Segura, the defense attorney for Malissa James, he protested that judge Meza is married to a District Attorneys’ investigator. Segura is challenging investigative methods used by the District Attorney, and others, in this case.

Dad takes girls to Oceanside's Pit Stop Diner, ends up at Tijuana hotel
At a video-hearing today, when judge Amalia Meza asked Ramirez what he wanted, Ramirez answered, “Well, I just want to be released, your Honor, they have me in jail.” The defendant was in San Diego’s downtown Central jail this morning. The judge asked if he consented to the video hearing and he said, “Well, it would be better to see you in person.” The video hearing continued, and Ramirez confirmed that he still wants to represent himself, and he reassured the judge that he does know what he is doing. The next hearing date is set for May 24.

Oceanside grandma comes home from San Felipe, gets beat up and tortured
Dion Kavis Knight appeared by video monitor today, for a 15 minute court hearing. He is currently on a no-bail hold, and Honorable judge David Berry set a date of May 5 to hear argument to set bail. The May 5 hearing will probably be another remote-video-court appearance. If Knight is convicted of all charges, he could be sentenced to Life in prison. The trial date was set for May 26.

Oceanside drug addict loses third child
Honorable judge David Berry Judge noticed that a drug test submitted by the defense attorney dated March 18, 2021, showed she was positive for the drug buprenorphine. The defense attorney replied that yes, "that one is Subutex, which is what she got through the Mission Clinic." But judge Berry was not favorably impressed, he stated that the woman MUST NOT TEST POSITIVE FOR THAT, and any drugs she might take must be by prescription from a physician licensed in the State of California.

Weldon McDavid shot Greg Mulvihill on secluded dirt path in Carlsbad
Prosecutor Jodi Breton, and prisoner Weldon McDavid, and defense attorney Rick Crawford appeared before the judge by remote-video-monitor for the re-sentencing on April 30, 2021. http://www.sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2021/a…— April 30, 2021 12:50 p.m.
The judge reviewed some of the facts of the case and then upheld the previously declared 50-years-to-Life sentence.— April 30, 2021 12:29 p.m.
Segura is challenging investigative methods used by the District Attorney, and others, in this case. http://www.sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2021/a… http://www.sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2021/a…— April 29, 2021 9:42 a.m.
The next hearing date is set for May 24. http://www.sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2021/a…— April 26, 2021 12:08 p.m.

Oceanside drug addict loses third child
Honorable judge David Berry Judge noticed that a drug test submitted by the defense attorney dated March 18, 2021, showed she was positive for the drug buprenorphine. The defense attorney replied that yes, "that one is Subutex, which is what she got through the Mission Clinic." But judge Berry was not favorably impressed, he stated that the woman MUST NOT TEST POSITIVE FOR THAT, and any drugs she might take must be by prescription from a physician licensed in the State of California. http://www.sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2021/a…— April 13, 2021 11:07 a.m.
