Murder charged on Nardo Street in Solana Beach
For the hearing May 13, 2021, defense attorney Rick Crawford provided a three-page contract between murder-defendant Jade Janks and “The Surety Company.” Attorney Crawford said this company was providing GPS monitoring, so the SCRAM monitor was redundant. But prosecutor Teresa Pham said that “The Surety Company” has no obligation to notify the court nor the DA’s office of any violation or tampering of the monitor, but the SCRAM service will do so. The prosecutor also pointed out that “The Surety Company” refused to come to court to answer any questions. Judge Simmons denied the request to order the SCRAM monitor removed.

Murder charged on Nardo Street in Solana Beach
Honorable judge Simmons denied a defense request to allow the SCRAM monitor be removed from Jade Janks, during a brief hearing the morning of May 13, 2021. Honorable judge Simmons did grant Jade Janks permission to travel to Los Angeles for one day, June 2, for work purposes, but he warned that if she is outside San Diego County after that date she will be in violation of her release conditions.

Jury selection begins for David Leroy Lucero Jr
At a brief hearing this morning, May 13, 2021, a judge set dates to decide yet again the mental competency of David Lucero. There will be a three-day bench trial on June 28, 29 and 30, in person, in department 1904 of San Diego’s downtown courthouse. Judge Daniel Goldstein will decide the matter, there will be no jury. Today defendant Lucero was reprsented by Alexandra Kazerian, she reportedly works with Mark Geragos.

Vista child grabber gets four years prison
During a court hearing today, Wednesday May 12, 2021, the public defender for Alan Ray Sasseen claimed that Sasseen has PTSD and is a one-hundred-percent disabled veteran, for which he receives disability payments from the VA. The defense attorney requested bail amount of $125,000 be reduced by half. But Honorable judge Carlos Armour declared the parolee “a danger to the public,” he declined to reduce bail, and set a date of June 22 to hear evidence for Sasseen’s newest criminal charges.

Oceanside drug addict loses third child
Kelsey Carpenter, 31, was allowed to remain out of custody, even though she apparently tested postive for meth through a SCRAM patch. A representative for SCRAM named Tawny Blumhagen said the patch showed more drug than metabolite, so Carpenter probably used meth nearer to the time the patch was removed, on April 22. But the defense attorney for Carpenter claimed that the patch must have picked up remnants of drug that remained in her system when it was applied on April 10, the day after she was released from custody. Prosecutor Chantal De Mauregn stated that Carpenter claims her “drug of choice” is alcohol and marijuana, but she tested positive for meth the day her baby was discovered dead, and now she is found using meth again. At the end of the hearing May 10, Honorable judge David Berry allowed Carpenter to remain at liberty, and he set her next court date for the afternoon of May 18, when the judge wants another report from SCRAM, on her next patch results.

Oceanside grandma comes home from San Felipe, gets beat up and tortured
There was a bail review for Dion Kavis Knight today, May 5, 2021. The defense attorney said the judge should release Knight on his own recognizance, and Knight can live with his brother in Los Angeles, and Knight looks forward to a jury publicly proclaiming his innocence. The defense attorney also quoted from the CDC, declaring that people in custody are at greater risk for illnesses such as COVID 19, and that risks are greater for black and Hispanic persons, so keeping an African American in jail creates a greater likelihood of infection, hospitalization and death from COVID 19. Prosecutor David Uyar then described a list of violent offenses allegedly committed by Dion Kavis Knight, sometimes within hours of being released from custody, in different counties in California. Knight reportedly committed two more violent offenses even while in his current custody in San Diego County. (Defense attorney response: “The alleged sexual assault was a consentual sexual encounter as often happens in jail.”) The prosecutor also declared that Knight’s brother has his own criminal history, and they were arrested together with a stolen vehicle in December 2016. Honorable judge Brad Weinreb declined to release the defendant, and continued his no-bail hold, and confirmed a trial date of May 26, 2021.

Judge Simmons denied the request to order the SCRAM monitor removed. http://www.sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2021/m…— May 14, 2021 9:13 a.m.
Murder charged on Nardo Street in Solana Beach
Honorable judge Simmons denied a defense request to allow the SCRAM monitor be removed from Jade Janks, during a brief hearing the morning of May 13, 2021. Honorable judge Simmons did grant Jade Janks permission to travel to Los Angeles for one day, June 2, for work purposes, but he warned that if she is outside San Diego County after that date she will be in violation of her release conditions. http://www.sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2021/m…— May 14, 2021 9:10 a.m.
Today defendant Lucero was reprsented by Alexandra Kazerian, she reportedly works with Mark Geragos. http://www.sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2021/m…— May 13, 2021 6:09 p.m.
But Honorable judge Carlos Armour declared the parolee “a danger to the public,” he declined to reduce bail, and set a date of June 22 to hear evidence for Sasseen’s newest criminal charges. http://www.sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2021/m…— May 12, 2021 2:30 p.m.
At the end of the hearing May 10, Honorable judge David Berry allowed Carpenter to remain at liberty, and he set her next court date for the afternoon of May 18, when the judge wants another report from SCRAM, on her next patch results. http://www.sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2021/m…— May 10, 2021 1:57 p.m.

Honorable judge Brad Weinreb declined to release the defendant, and continued his no-bail hold, and confirmed a trial date of May 26, 2021.— May 5, 2021 2:36 p.m.
