Former Filner staffer asks for $1.48 million in damages
Talk about misleading. The whole time Gloria Allred insinuated it was about Bob Filner resigning and dear Irene just wanted what is best for the city (BS!~) Filner resigned in August and she's on the prowl. At no time did Allred *publicly* mention a six month job was worth nearly $1.5 million in damages. And what damages to McCormack? Her case is weak to begin with [http://media.utsandiego.com/news/documents/2013/0…]. Bob Filner's the one who got press raped and lost employment while McCormack maintained fulltime City of San Diego employment (back in her old job per Todd Gloria's interim stint at mayor) collecting a taxpayer salary and pension in addition to her Port of San Diego benefits. *San Diego Reader* blogs documented Irene McCormack Jackson's lack of credibility at the height of the Filner press slaughter. Her original attorney's tweet the day Filner resigned is clear: it was a media strategy, not a legal one [http://www.sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2013/n…]. This latest detail - it was about pushing Filner out to maintain status quo and getting McCormack paid for her role. This was always about money and politics while real victims of sexual harassment, men and women, lose everyday on the job. Thank you DH for staying on top of this. Wish mainstream media was more with it. These people make me sick! Hope McCormack *fryes* in court (pun intended).— November 23, 2013 10:29 p.m.
Ethics Commission fines PAC backing councilmember Myrtle Cole
San Diego has an *Ethics* Commission? How's a $5000 fine deterrent when she's been on the council since May? *Cole received the largest of the two fines — $500 — while Crenshaw had to shell out $250*. Just cost of business to become elected. *This amount must be paid no later than November 22, 2013, by check or money order payable to the City Treasurer*. Why not just transfer direct to Briggs law firm since we're 1 down 14 more Cory Briggs lawsuits against City of San Diego to go?— November 19, 2013 9:23 a.m.
Faulconer bails, mayoral debate canceled

Downtown Partnership denied taxpayer money to fight lawsuit
**THANK YOU Luis Ojeda** Person in charge of overseeing assessment districts for the city. HonestGovernment's point about Goldsmith and Briggs deal cutting is scary. Seems those two have become cozy since the Filner gangbang and Briggs' offer the City settle with McCormack using monies owed him. Guess over 15 cases against the City and lawyers get friendly with constant interaction. This constant transfer of taxpayer wealth to the Briggs law firm is getting old when we're $2 billion underfunded for infrastructure and basic City services. Glad Downtown Partnership was sued and ultimately hope they lose as a wake up call. Just disappointed who is providing legal representation for SDOG. Downtown always wins because this crap is too complicated for average folks to keep up with or understand. Someday we'll get a story that shows in aggregate how much the City pays annually to settle and payout lost lawsuits. And *maybe* then people will wake up.— November 14, 2013 10:11 a.m.
Faulconer claim not "flawed" — it's a blatant lie
Don - I think our candidates count on voters to be too busy to look into anything. My neighbors are dealing with a $250/month rental increase to take effect Jan 1. The only reason they voted was because I pressured them to (don't know which candidate - not my place to tell anyone who to vote for). When you have to think about rent and food, you fall prey to misinformation. They are college educated, one with a Ph.D who got laid off from a place that makes drones. No need to give them free publicity here. But both are smart enough to know NOT ONE of the candidates is going to advocate for rent control or say $250/month is excessive.— November 6, 2013 2:54 p.m.
Faulconer claim not "flawed" — it's a blatant lie
Mike should be leading because his message (warning) directly affects residents (voters). But few have the balls to vote for the best guy. Most settle for 'this guy will do and can win.' Nothing new. Steven Erie, Vladimir Kogan, Scott MacKenzie covered all this in the easy to understand as you cry [Paradise Plundered][1]. And Don already covered them... Maybe this should be required reading before anyone gets a ballot to vote in future local elections? UCSD conceals Fletcher's reason for graduating five years late
Matt, Do you know if Jeff Gattas mentioned here is related to the Filner accuser who sits on the inewsource board partnered with KPBS: *I think [UCSD public relations official] Jeff Gattas & I would welcome [redacted] and Fletcher both in terms of their practical insight, which will be helpful in a variety of academic disciplines on campus, and for their strategic advocacy value.* http://www.kpbs.org/news/2013/jul/26/roundtable-m… or http://inewsource.org/board/#gattas— October 29, 2013 2:10 p.m.
City attorney Goldsmith boasted how he worked on Filner ouster for 8 months
Don, To your point "I do not believe Goldsmith enlisted Frye..." Maybe not directly, but through trusted surrogates may have planted seeds for future ideas. Plus this publication did a story last week where the two lawyers have 15 and 7 cases Goldsmith's team is on. So maybe not an overt plan, but a lot of crossed paths between April and July. From NBC http://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/politics/Fryes-Re… Frye's Resignation Letter Hints at Scandal By Chuck Westerheide and R. Stickney| Wednesday, Sep 18, 2013 | Updated 3:54 PM PDT In it, Frye says she can't work in an open government position under constraints put on her by the administration. But the bigger revelation now is a second reason for leaving, and again this is April before any of his problems had been reported.
