Golfer Mickelson under insider trading investigation
To danfogel: You neglect to mention that most of the high earners are under contract with the teams they play for and are awarded ridiculous sums of money. 16 of the top 20 on that list are football, baseball, basketball, soccer and cricket players (also 1 Formula One driver paid a handsome salary by Scuderia Ferrari). The other 5 are individual (no salary) sport players: 2 golfers, 1 tennis player, 2 boxers (and the outrageous purses that that sport is known for). http://www.forbes.com/athletes/list/— June 2, 2014 5:48 a.m.

I think you're on to something here. Your everyman style of writing is quite interesting. I was unaware of your earlier postings until today. You might consider jumping into the blogosphere, who knows where that might lead. Nothing ventured, right? Slightly off topic, I had a good friend who was a fireman and lived for a while on a hillside overlooking what you termed the "Riverbottom". We were on his 2nd floor balcony one day and a couple of dirt bikers were climbing a trail on the bluff across the canyon. I impulsively shot my "finger pistol" replete with my rendition of mock gunfire. One of the cyclists went down simultaneously. My buddy turned and said "Nice shot". I hope that wasn't you on the bike. Anyway, either keep the prose coming or start a blog. You've got the touch.— May 31, 2014 6:46 p.m.
Beware: one minimum-wage proposal called a “sham”
You nailed it, "dw". That F Scott Fitzgerald cat was downright malicious. Ever consider that some people really don't like their given first names?— May 24, 2014 9:26 a.m.

Where’s Casey?
Lotta headstone material there. This is good for a few days of guffawing. Thanks for the reminder.— May 15, 2014 1:43 p.m.

Public utilities commission's rape of the ratepayers
Oops, meant to type 80,000 "LB" rigs in the above post.— May 6, 2014 9:10 a.m.
Public utilities commission's rape of the ratepayers
Upon reflection, I realize I was the thimble head, if for no other reason than continuing to appear before the Commission to help present an ever un-winnable position as to why the CPUC should not have been allowed to deregulate our (independent construction trucking) industry. Public safety suffered a major hit after that, with unqualified drivers attempting to handle 80,000 rigs on clogged San Diego arteries and freeways all the while working for half the going rate. I watched a guy turning onto El Cajon Blvd and clip a pedestrian with his rear most trailer wheels, killing him instantly. Tragedies like that notwithstanding, whom do you think the contractor$ favored, and sublet the work to first? Looking forward to your article.— May 6, 2014 6:31 a.m.
Public utilities commission's rape of the ratepayers
Not many would key in on that. Nice work. In my 18-wheeler days, I was taken advantage of on many occasions by those pocket-lining thimble brains.— May 5, 2014 11:12 a.m.
