U-T and Port: Bring in the Clowns
So, given the outlandish figures being bandied about for a new stadium, one might assume that any new job linked to its construction could conceivably cost in the vicinity of two or three hundred thousand dollars to "create"? Who's zooming who?— October 10, 2012 1 p.m.

You are asking them to back up their corporate double-speak? Tut, tut, mon frere . Plus, they'd be hard-pressed to maintain their lofty images in lesser environs like Cleveland et al. Just another "cost of doing business".— October 6, 2012 10:30 p.m.

One would expect that there might be a few success stories pending. Emphasis on few.— October 6, 2012 7:31 p.m.

Agreed on Detroit. But Detroit simply fell apart. Cincy is still bustling. It astounds me that they don't put much money into improvements. And I've seen most of the US myself, especially when I owned an 18-wheeler.— October 6, 2012 5:20 p.m.

Pup, I have to admit that this is the first time I've ever seen the words "Cincinnati" and "beautiful" employed in the same sentence. I suppose the unique alien-greenish hue that defines the Ohio River might be considered beautiful in some galaxies, mine excluded. Indeed, the River's own sanitation commission, when asked if the Ohio River is safe for swimming, answers "Yes and no". http://www.orsanco.org/ And the following quote is attributed to Mark Twain (or sometimes Will Rogers) during his stint at a printing company there during the 1880's: "When the end of the world comes, I want to be in Cincinnati because it's always twenty years behind the times." Personally, I think the term "urban blight" may have originated there.— October 6, 2012 2:37 p.m.

Wow - I forgot that there were still **13** drive-in theaters (and that's excluding North County) at the time. I have fond memories of every one of them. Thanks for sharing this.
