Search for Shelter Site Begins and Ends on Newton Avenue
Two years ago when I arrived in San Diego, La Jolla to be exact, that's where I was dropped off by the guy who gave me a ride from El Centro, I wound up at the Big Tent. They gave me a blanket and although I was too late to get a bed, they treated me with respect. I felt safe under the watchful eye of the Alpha Project volunteers. I do not understand, this idea, that Homeless people are a danger to children. There are many homeless children. Is it reasonable to assume that homeless children should not go to school because they are a danger to the children who are not homeless? Of course not. Perhaps the fear is that sex offenders, in an effort to avoid detection, have mixed themselves into the homeless population. That, I believe is a reasonable assumption. I am experiencing some outrage right now. We continue to punish a population of human beings based on the bad behavior of a few. It happens with alcoholics, the disabled, the mentally ill, drug abusers, ex-cons, and yes, sex offenders. Whoever represents the lowest common denominator sets the bar that the rest of us have to overcome. We not only have to carry the stigma of our mistakes and illnesses, we have to carry the stigma of every mistake made by every human labeled as a drain on the economy. The poor are not a drain on the economy. The poor are the people who give all they have everyday just to survive.— April 28, 2011 4:54 p.m.
Qualcomm Reports Great Earnings, Helps Lift Market
Wasn't there something called civic pride and corporations were the leaders in civic endeavors. Only, back then they didn't have their name on everything. Back then big business was content to stay in the background and quietly conduct itself with civic responsibility by making sustainable choices. Not all of course were so responsible. There has always been the cheap, suck em dry kind of businessman, but that guy was the exception, not the rule. Fifty years ago things were different. The cheap, suck em dry kind of businessman is everywhere now, and has become the rule. We are all suffering because of it. How do we rein in greed and corruption and correct injustice when these three things are overwhelming our systems? I sought the answer to this question because the level at which I hear about greed, corruption and injustice, raises my blood pressure. I have let go of the hope of seeing justice for myself, but I can witness, and add my voice in seeking justice for others. That thought, keeps me focused, and hopeful, and peaceful. And of course, firearm free.— April 28, 2011 3:11 p.m.
SDG&E Smart Meters – cause of heart trouble?
I met a woman on Sunday who had her ninety-nine yr. old deaf mother in her car driving around La Mesa looking for a new place to live. She complained about the EMF making her sick. She said she could feel the pulses permeate her body, vibrating her teeth, her head and producing infection in her breasts and cracking the skin on her hands. She admitted that her mental state was none too stable at the moment. Indeed my heart went out to her, but I had no advice to offer other than to say, "we're all in the same boat." Our institutions are so corrupted by the drive for profit that there is no value in just the simple act of living. On the flouridation issue, I've been taking the mineral boron for about six month now and have found relief from my bone crushing fatigue. Flouride bio-accumulates in the body and boron is the recommended detox for this condition.Flouride has been linked to fibromyalgia in cases of Gulf War Syndrome.— April 28, 2011 6:56 a.m.

I like your line, "the raw and ugly facts." Justice prevails when good people bear witness for those who can't speak for themselves.— April 27, 2011 5:43 a.m.

Earth Day 2011 or How I learned to love the IRS
LOL, tornado on the beach, be careful of what you speak. I would not be suprised. I feel very lucky. I love San Diego. I love the weather, I love the scenery, I love the dynamic which is a combination of factors which speak of possibilities. As I watch the devastation across the country I am moved by the survivors who say,"I've lost everything, but I'm alive."— April 25, 2011 10:14 p.m.
