Denise Vakili, a native Southern Californian, is an award winning photographer based in North San Diego. Her passion lies in capturing the true essence of a subject. Whether it be an emotion, a feeling or a vibe, she feels that the quality of a photograph lies in how the viewer feels when they see it.
Specializing in head shots, fashion and families, Vakili’s style is artistic yet simplistic, with an editorial flair. A fan of photographing teens, aspiring models, entertainers, and professionals, she does her own editing and treats each photograph as a new project with it’s own individual personality, based on her clients needs.
A published writer as well as photographer, Vakili earned her journalism degree from San Diego State University, ranked the third-top journalism school in the US during her tenure there. A recipient of the Outstanding Achievement Award in art direction for San Diego State’s student magazine, her bylines and photographs have won several awards and competitions and have been featured in several publications including North County Woman Magazine, Big City Kids Magazine, Getaway San Diego Magazine, The Los Angeles Times, The San Diego Union Tribune and more.
