Sorry, I probably should have linked to the DQ article quoted in the post - it does indeed cover resales. The main difference, as noted, is that the C.A.R. study covers California statewide, rather than splitting into southern and northern regions.

Free Burgers with a Side of Nostalgia at Corvette Diner
Very cool of the Cohns...but I still miss the old Hillcrest location, where I also made many a trip with the parents as a kid. I've taken my daughter to the new place a few times and she loves it, but for some reason the feeling's just not all there for me. Fried pickles still rock, though.— February 29, 2012 9:36 p.m.
Junkyard Creatures
Ha! I took a trip down to the "new" Children's Museum last year with my daughter and a couple friends, then ranging 6-7 in age. All was good through the first floor, but man I wish I'd have been warned about (and dressed myself and my charges appropriately for) the painting pavilion and clay clod battleground. Still an awesome time for the kids, though I'm never wearing anything but my "East County Bro" uniform of Dickies and t-shirt there again.— February 27, 2012 9:47 p.m.
Gone! Last Dollar Coffee in S.D.?
Cafe Bella, corner of Bacon & Voltaire, OB. But you gotta have your own cup - $1.50 medium, 50 cents off for keeping with the "reduce, reuse, recycle" vibe of the 'hood and coming prepared with a mug. Not sure if that counts or not...— February 20, 2012 9:07 p.m.
“Kiss-In” Planned at Embarcadero’s Unconditional Surrender Statue
Unfortunately the statue was only on temporary loan to the Port from out-of-area owners - a loan that was extended several times, we were supposed to return it a few years ago. It's a park in New Jersey's turn to host it for a while: http://www.sandiegoreader.com/weblogs/news-ticker… The "kiss-in" sounds like a cute idea, though. I'll be interested to see how it goes...— February 18, 2012 8:33 a.m.
Expert Prediction: Foreclosures Will Slow In 2012
Actually, rents are rising - foreclosed former homeowners are being added to the pool of potential renters faster than rental property is coming online and are competing with other renters for a diminishing supply of rental housing.— February 17, 2012 11:56 a.m.
Expert Prediction: Foreclosures Will Slow In 2012
Well, it appears that what's happening to stop homes from going back to the bank is that they're now cheap enough for investors to snap up and rent out for a good return on their investment.— February 16, 2012 7:56 p.m.
Building Trades' Family Housing Corporation Re-Elects Board Members
Might that be the Alternative Education Department?— February 8, 2012 8:56 p.m.
San Diego Ranks 11th Most-Hipster City
What if I still use an old 20" BMX bike as my primary mode of around-town transportation - does it count as a fixie even though it was never intended to have gears?— January 24, 2012 8:04 p.m.

Naval Hospital Sees Increased Number of Spice Users
It's some sort of synthetic drug that's supposed to mimic the "high" of marijuana, but since it doesn't actually contain cannabis it's available to anyone over the counter in places like gas stations and liquor stores. Click on Dorian's name at the top of the article and check out some of his past work - he's got a handful of informative pieces on the drug (and efforts to combat it) available.— December 30, 2011 6:17 p.m.
