A Clipper what?

My dad is a Clippers fan...he was also once a Rockets fan, watching both teams when he ran concessions at the Sports Arena (err...iPayOne Center...err...Valley View Casino Center) back in the late '60s through the late '70s. I grew up watching and playing baseball and football, because that's what teams SD fielded professionally, if not competitively. Only recently with SDSU finding some success on the hardwood have I begun to discover basketball, and after a few years of watching both the college and pro games I've got to admit I'm much more impressed with what I see at the collegiate level. That said, I do occasionally attempt to watch a little NBA - and I appreciate your likening the current Clippers team to a college mindset. I've been told many times I'm old beyond my years when it comes to sports, mostly because I can appreciate a pitcher's duel more than a home run derby of a baseball game and was one of the few who mourned the second softening of the Petco National Park outfield dimensions. But you're right - while most of the league plays an offense-forward game with little (to my uneducated eye) discernible defensive or transitional strategy, there's an all-out aura that makes them easy to follow. I'm loathe to admit that I appreciate or respect anything associated with Los Angeles, but if it's got to be the Clippers, it might not be the worst thing in the world. Can we commit a few billion in taxpayer funds to build them a new arena and bring Egotistical Donald #2 back to town?

I'm not too worried...my wife makes most of our movie dates, and she's got a thing for Edwards Mira Mesa...and lately Cinepolis, the precise opposite of "cheap."

It’s a Proper pity

A shame - had some good pre-game eats there and it was always a madhouse...but that's game day, which only comes 81 times a year leaving, you're right, a pretty barren wasteland of a location to work with 3/4 of the time.

I guess for us paying customers this spells the end of constant cut-rate UltraStar ticket barrages through those daily deal sites...it wasn't uncommon to see half the line at Hazard cashing them in, so I figure they must have been taking a bath for some time.

Also, when you catch the official Rome plug for his return to XX notice that it's nothing but a 30 second rip on Hamilton, who it appears will be his lead-in...too bad one runs a nationally syndicated program, the crossover segment that the station does when both shows are local would definitively be "the best 15 minutes in radio anywhere!"

Big changes at Padres flagship radio station

Good lord, the Hack now has two shows...my dial is officially stuck on KPBS in the mornings. XX announced this afternoon Rome is officially coming back, which I see as a good thing - he said previously he'd jumped stations because his radio distribution is through Clear Channel and it made sense for him to go to a CCC station. I assume the move to CBS for TV led to the radio move, and thus he's now ditching the CCC radio affiliate. D. Smith is the only saving grace of XX at the moment - I don't care what slot he ends up in, so long as the guy stays on air somewhere...I drive a lot and I'll catch part of his show so long as he occupies some daylight hours. Scott and B.R. back on air...shudder...I always thought B.R. had the occasional interesting take but didn't add much overall aside from background snickering at Kaplan's thinly-veiled racist/sexist diarrhea of the mouth.
