Illegal Dryer?
A resident of the building, who did not want to be identified, said, “No washer and dryers are supposed to be in the units,” then pointed up to the charred dryer sitting on the second-floor balcony. “That dryer is illegal.” ----------------------- Oh, that's an interesting detail that I didn't see in the news! The woman in whose apartment started said that her housekeeper saw flames coming out of her dryer. She said she had just moved there three days prior. She did not want her face shown on camera, or her name used. It was her cat who was killed in the fire.— July 8, 2010 4:34 a.m.

Comic Relief is Dead
Sure, russl. So, I ask again: If the thread that mentioned incest was pulled, why wasn't this thread pulled? Nan, we are very lucky indeed, blessed I would call it, to be part of such a brilliant community of writers. Yourself, AG, Daniels, MsG, RobbieBear, Joe, and others -- and others who I wouldn't call bad writers, just beginners making all the mistakes beginning writers do. I miss many of the writers who have left, in particular, Pike and Adam (miss Stella like crazy -- her and Dr. Peanut are the bomb when it comes to writing about the human psyche.). It's great to be able to come to this site every day and know someone is going to be posting something new and fresh and interesting. :)— July 7, 2010 5:51 p.m.

I didn't feel it, nan! I was in the car, coming home from the store, and looked at the clock at the precise moment it struck, which I found out when I got home and my son came out of the house, yelling, "Hey, mom, there was another earthquake!"— July 7, 2010 5:44 p.m.

PAIN--It Lets You Know You Are Still Alive!
Wonderful blog thread, RobbieBear. Thanks for reminding us that "at least when you feel pain, it lets you know that you're alive." The Reader is going through a difficult transition, made harder by those too stubborn to see where they have gone wrong and forcing everyone to suffer for their stubbornness. It seems we all have to pay for a few who crossed the line. I am hoping to persuade nan not to leave us. I think she won't, in the end. Like you, and me, she likes being in our company, this little community we have created. It's like any neighborhood, people have to learn to live with the neighbors, and that means compromise. :)— July 7, 2010 10:11 a.m.
