Mavis Bilbray Clute died today
This is an open and public forum. Everyone has a right to express their views. I think Grasca choose an appropriate and thoughtful way to bring a different viewpoint into the discussion by posting a link to an article on the subject. I did not post earlier on this thread because I do not believe it is appropriate to speak ill of the dead. I am sorry for your personal loss.— May 16, 2010 3:39 p.m.
In Honor of my Nephew, a Gentleman and a Scholar
Congratulations to Daniel, well done, young man. I have to agree with you, MsG, in my limited experience with college students, none of the ones I knew were slackers. Most of the kids took classes and worked a full time job. That's not to say they didn't party of a weekend, maybe they did, but they didn't talk or brag about it. Maybe schools like SDSU have kids like this, that's the reputation, anyway. I can only speak for City College and UCSD. College age kids are at a time of life when they ought to have fun, anyway. Life gets very serious once you're out in the world, pursuing a career and settling into a home, marraige, and family. As long as you're careful, enjoy your youth and freedom while you can! :)— May 15, 2010 5 p.m.
“The City is broke and they are talking about a retractable-roof stadium"
Great post, Robbie! And agree with you both! :)— May 15, 2010 7:36 a.m.
Nothing normal about Normal Heights
LOL! D'oh! Let me try that again! :) http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/2010/may/14/sa…— May 14, 2010 9:59 p.m.
Bersin Unconvincing in Describing His Self-Confessed Goofs
By God, Grasca, if I swung the other way, you'd be my girl! :P— May 14, 2010 1:10 p.m.
Bersin Unconvincing in Describing His Self-Confessed Goofs
Well, look, Psycholizard, they got Capone on tax evasion. Totally agree with you, by the way. In a perfect world Bersin wouldn't have to be junked on a technicality. For that matter, in a perfect world, Bersin wouldn't keep failing upwards. The Senate will play their little game of faux outrage and hand him his hat. The best we can hope is that some citizens will understand there were much better reasons he shouldn't have the post.— May 14, 2010 12:27 p.m.
Makeup Essentials
A loooooong time ago when I still subscribed to Consumer Reports, a study on face creams found that despite all the claims, only one cream actually worked: Nivea. It happens that I have always used Nivea, and haven't found the need to make a change. On the other hand, there have been so many advances that I can't help but wonder if there are new products on the market that work like they claim to do. For example, the products with Retinol, surely they must have an effect.— May 14, 2010 11:42 a.m.
A Drop in the Bucket
I'm all for permanently restricting water if we FIRST restrict development since it is all the new development that causes the need for water restrictions. Hmmm, think I'm starting to see the problem. Sanders ... development. Development ... Sanders.— May 14, 2010 9:30 a.m.
Buttinsky?
If all cigarettes were subject to CRV, they would have no choice. However, there is no practical use for cigarette butts at the moment due to the toxic chemicals trapped in the filter. Even if you could find someone to provide collection bins, say the cig companies, there is no facility to take them. I suppose we could ship them all to China, but seeing as they already have more than they need, kinda doubt that will fly. As I said, there is no easy solution.— May 14, 2010 9:23 a.m.
Kick in the Pants
A2Z, I have read your blog posts about this matter, and I admit I don't know enough about the subject, but I will ask you a question anyway: It is obvious Sempra has made a mint for its investors, and your suggestion is to raise the franchise fee from 3% to 5%, or even 20%. Won't Sempra pass the cost along to the ratepayers?— May 14, 2010 9:16 a.m.
