Comic Relief is Dead
*snort snicker snort* Did russl actually call the Reader "a newspaper?" And here I thought they had no sense of humour about themselves. Okay, back to the subject at hand. When Josh Board wrote that joke about incest in his blog post, I complained about it, openly, on the attached thread. It wasn't funny. Know why it wasn't funny? Because it was about a real live person suffering in a real life situation. Without seeing the entire context of the piece, MsG's comment is laugh-out loud funny because clearly she is not referencing anything that actually happened, she is MAKING STUFF UP to exaggerate the extent of the narrator's hotness. To say she is harassing or abusing or parodying anyone is simply ridiculous, at least I know of no bloggers who write about incestuous relationships with their brothers in that style of writing here or anywhere. Board's comments were not pulled until the day he involuntarily departed. MsG's bit of brilliant fictional humour was yanked the minute it hit the page. And as she has correctly pointed out, there is a thread on here whose content is vulgar, coarse, twisted, yet there it stays, waiting to take the July Neighborhood Blog award. The differences are so obvious, they hardly need explaining. Sorry, but this whole thing reeks of lost moorings.— July 9, 2010 8:21 a.m.

Excuse me, SP, my response was to lifesbeengood's comment. The child he was speaking of is Macauley Culkin.— July 9, 2010 12:18 a.m.

Grasca, twinkies are one of the five major food groups, an essential part of the every day diet. The only acceptable substitute are the Hostess chocolate cupcakes. Whenever my grandmother gets cranky, I stuff one of those down her craw, works like a charm.— July 8, 2010 11:52 p.m.

Ooooh, Daniels, do you remember that recipe for Prison Burritos a certain blogger shared with us? Nastiest thing I ever heard of.— July 8, 2010 11:50 p.m.

The best interpretation of the best song ever: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGzYq_oQv1w "I never made promises lightly, And there've been some that I've broken, But I swear, in the days still left, We will walk in fields of gold, We will walk in fields of gold."— July 8, 2010 11:40 p.m.

That's your department, girlfriend. :) You tell me how, and I will try it out! BTW, when my daughter still lived at home, we ate Morningstar and other meat substitute products, so whatever is suggested will work for me.— July 8, 2010 9:37 p.m.

You are speaking of that Home Alone kid, Macauley Culkin. I believe him when he says he wasn't molested. I believe Marie Presley when she says he was a normal husband and lover. I believe, like I said, that Michael Jackson was neither crazy nor stupid.— July 8, 2010 9:19 p.m.

Russl, I ask again: Why is the thread I referenced not pulled? Is there a double standard now, with some of us being targeted?— July 8, 2010 8:24 p.m.

Sorry, SurfPup, I am convinced he did molest children, and paid millions of dollars in hush money to some of his victims so that he wouldn't go to prison over what he did. Yes, he was eccentric, but he was not crazy or stupid. I think there were lots of contributing factors and extenuating circumstances that led to him becoming the person he became. Nevertheless, I don't doubt he molested boys. I like the brilliant comedian Katt Williams' take on the issue: (DO NOT WATCH IF YOU ARE OFFENDED BY BAD LANGUAGE) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dn_CQKW8Q2w But, perhaps we should all defer to Mindy The Storyteller's expert views on the matter. After all, she was Michael Jackson's lover and confidant for a number of years, she would know best. :)— July 8, 2010 8:11 p.m.
