This is why, as a blogger writing for a publication, you don't allow the comments to get to you to the point where you track down someone's email address and start firing off salvos.

So interesting that this comment would be published just one day before a contributor to the Reader named Carolyn Matteo would do much the same thing. Matteo had posted a "stringer story" about the Shore Club. A poster contributed to the thread. Matteo first answered by using the first name of the poster, then in a second post published the full name of the poster, and when the Reader pulled the name from both posts, then in a third post, offered to give the full name to whoever wrote her at her email address. Matteo managed to call this poster a "coward" and insinuated other defamatory knowledge about her before the Reader withdrew the "story" altogether.

Good reporting, Dorian, thank you. If these are Prop 8 funds being used for this library, is that appropriate? My understanding was the bonds could only be used for pre-approved projects.— June 17, 2010 1:02 p.m.

I, too, enjoy hearing that sort of street slang bantered among men. :) Had not heard of the Columbian expression. What more? Really interesting, could be either exasperation or eagerness.— June 17, 2010 11:59 a.m.

Now that's a very wise comment, MsG. I enjoy reading your threads and your posts because you show a rare honesty and insight into your own life -- an examined life is well worth sharing. I have no patience for canned, simplistic pap. I learn nothing from it and in some cases it ends up doing more harm than good, no matter how well-meaning.— June 17, 2010 11:52 a.m.
Army sergeant comes back to San Diego from Afghanistan
The subject of Jehovah's Witnesses was brought up in the story and commenter #1 may have been reacting to that. Agree with Grasca, to get into a religious duel with him serves no purpose and is irritating as it has little or nothing to do with the main subject of the story, but if people want to waste their time, no skin off my nose. As MsG says, it's a free forum.— June 17, 2010 11:47 a.m.
