Hi Mindy... Thank you for checking up. I haven't posted because I have found a job. I have to take a huge paycut but God is great. I found a job, a great man who loved me, saved my house. A few years later my boyfriend died from cancer. I am again uncertain if I can make it. It's good to find this, To be reminded that there was time before when I felt despair but God gave me hope. It will get better again. I hope you and your family is doing alright and keeping the faith. Take care.

San Diego kids on cel phones go silent

Great article! It has to be written. I loved growing up in the 70s without all these distractions. I loved that I am a good researcher because we have an ancient library at University of Santo Tomas in Manila, and I had to use those long moving ladders to get to some dusty books. Not being sarcastic. The long way of doing and finding out things gave my generation the virtues of patience, industry, focus and critical thinking. But I am no technophobe either. I was on it as soon as the first PC became commercial. I am relieved that when I mess up what I'm typing, I don't have to start over or use a whiteout. I don't think the problem is the internet or technology, but how we use it. People just needs to learn BALANCE. I agree FACEBOOK (FB) is addicting, but it has helped me keep connected with my friends and family who are scattered throughout the globe. In one place we can keep in touch. I am in my kids' FB Friends so it became a good way of starting discussions. We have computer desks near each other and we actually discuss things we post or see posted from each others' friends. I also don't check FB everyday even if I wanted to. The key is balance. As in anything with life. Thanks for this article though. It is well written.

Hi Mindy: That was so sweet of you. I just felt a quiet desperation again today as I received a letter from the property tax collector. I still can't pay for the full property tax. But I got an email with your message and somehow it reminded me of this post, and somehow it reminded me of God's promise. My children are looking for jobs too and I feel sorry for their frustration. I hope I, our children and your husband will soon find the light at the end of this dim economic tunnel. Thanks for keeping in touch. The Perils of Paradise

Funny! I have a feeling that pest control guy lets go of Ratatouille and kins at Otay Lake, my 'hood. Vector Control is no help, I know. I contacted them once, not knowing what to do with that big dead furry thing in my backyard. I wonder what they do with the special assessment tax we pay? I ended up paying a pest control guy just to pick it up because I just feel like puking at even the thought of going near it. Can't help it. I have weak stomach syndrome. Keep writing! Mt.
