Wim, Vigor, and Vitality: An Interview with Wim Wenders, Pt. 1
When I first began attending Columbia College Chicago as a film student in 1989, Wenders had just released "Wings Of Desire", my History of Cinema class (where I met Mr. Marks) screened "The American Friend", and I forced myself to stay awake one evening to watch "Paris, TX" on HBO (no VCR yet). Wonderful times. Kudos on a brillant, insightful part one - looking forward to part two.— February 25, 2012 5:24 a.m.
What Happened? Denzel Washington (Part 1)
Denzel has to shoulder some of the blame here: he directed two of those movies - "Antwone Fisher" and "The Great Debaters". Like all great actors, Washington does certain films not for prestige but to pick up a paycheck. And he's hitched his wagon onto the Tony Scott bandwagon unfortunately. Jump, Denzel, jump!— February 23, 2012 9:06 p.m.
Don't Forget This Sunday's Live Oscar Blog
I will be in attendance Sunday evening in my Crosby-Hope tuxedo special, ready to perform one of the two nominated songs: "Am I a mannnnnnnn or am I a muppettttttttttttt???" Ahhh, yes. Repulsive, isn't it?— February 23, 2012 8:56 p.m.

Unconditional Surrender Could Get the Kiss Off, But Hope Springs Eternal
During a family vacation to San Diego, we traveled to said tourist spot to visit the floating museum and parked near said statue. One of my favorite pix of my son Alex from that vacation: http://tinyurl.com/7b2a3n4 My only claim to fame - I discovered the Bob Hope statue tributes before Mr. Marks did and alerted him to its presence: http://www.flickr.com/photos/31078375@N03/with/29… If you look closely at my Flickr photostream, the Bob Hope statue wasn't even present in the plaza! The speakers weren't blaring the jokes yet (thankfully) either. Review: The Agony and the Ecstasy of Phil Spector
Did the film cover his tumultuous marriage to Ronnie Spector? The former lead singer of the Ronettes stated in her autobiography that Spector would force her to watch the film "Citizen Kane" to remind her she would be nothing without him. Other claims: * She was forbidden to speak to the Rolling Stones or tour with the Beatles, because Phil feared that she would be unfaithful. * Phil showed her a gold coffin with a glass top in his basement, promising to kill and display her if she left him. * She claimed she was a prisoner in her own mansion -Phil would hide her shoes to dissuade her from walking outside, and kept the house dark because he did not want anyone to see his balding head.— February 14, 2012 5:37 p.m.

Tony Bennett: Legalize Drugs, Save a Rock Star's Life
Interesting coincidence that both Bennett and Houston were found in a bathtub. With that enormous beak, who would pass Tony the mirror? In a few days, Bennett will probably issue a retraction saying "Whitney's loss was a huge shock and I didn't mean what I said..." Well, birdseed, Tony, that's EXACTLY what you said! You lie down with pigs, you come up smelling like garbage!— February 13, 2012 12:52 p.m.
Dig A Hole: Bill Hinzman, George Romero's First Zombie
To paraphrase Harry Cooper: There's going to be 20, 30, maybe 100 of those mourners at the funeral, and as soon as they know it's for Bill, it's going to be crawling with them. If he's a zombie, the burial service is going to take awhile... RIP Bill.— February 7, 2012 4:13 p.m.
