VIDEO: Violently Insane Bob Hope Interferes With Jimmy Stewart's Thought Patterns
If you need further proof on the Power of Hope, watch the 0:25 mark in the clip. Jimmy Stewart is spryly walking onto the stage to canned applause and the sounds of "Easy To Love", the song he introduced back in 1936. Keep focused on Les Brown and His Band of Renown to the right of the stage: they're clapping along with the audience... WHO'S PLAYING THE MUSIC??? Need we tell you?— August 16, 2012 12:30 p.m.
VIDEO: Violently Insane Bob Hope Interferes With Jimmy Stewart's Thought Patterns
Since posting this, I feel like J. Robert Oppenheimer upon seeing the detonated atomic bomb for the first time: "Now I am become death; the destroyer of worlds." http://sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2012/aug/1…— August 14, 2012 2:11 p.m.
Bob Hoskins Has Parkinson's, Is Retiring
My favorite line in "Roger Rabbit" was delivered with gusto by Mr. Hoskins: Roger: Jessica's the love of my life. The apple of my eye. The cream in my coffee. Eddie: Well you better start drinking it black, Acme's taking the cream now. Dig a Hole: Marvin Hamlisch
Let us not forget that Mr. Hamlisch was the accompanist on the college circuit and eventually Carnegie Hall for the one, the only Groucho in the early 1970s. Hamlisch told the story many times: he opened at Carnegie Hall with the Beethoven Waldstein sonata ("Know it? I wrote it!") in which he altered the music ever so slightly in honor of Groucho. Click on the video to hear it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3OSOl3ykv50 Memoriessssss... too soon. Rest in peace, Marvin.— August 7, 2012 2:25 p.m.
Dig a Hole: Norman Alden, the Oldest Surviving Member of Julius Kelp's Class
Stella Purdy Stevens is still kicking, no? My favorite role of Norman Alden's came in the 1972 Raquel Welch film "Kansas City Bomber" as Horrible Hank Hopkins, a simpleton whose Beast is paired up to Raquel's Beauty. You can catch a glimpse of Alden around the 0:56 mark of the trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mg6vhg2dFN0 Rest in peace, Norman.— August 6, 2012 6:18 p.m.
50 Years Later: Vintage Newspapers from the Week Marilyn Monroe Died
Joe DiMaggio sent a half-dozen of roses every day to Marilyn's crypt for twenty straight years (1962-1982). And did you see the Marilyn monstrosity that plagued Chicago for 10 months and now resides in Palm Springs, CA? http://sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2012/aug/0…— August 4, 2012 5:44 p.m.
