After gas tax loss, DeMaio targets union dues
As usual, everything is just a big to-do for Carl to get people talking about Carl. Like his fellow Republican Ghouliani, DeMaio is [a small man in search of a balcony][1]. [1]: https://www.theatlantic.com/daily-dish/archive/20…— January 14, 2019 11:44 a.m.
Uber/Lyft staging area closed at airport
Well said. The only thing missing is the city's cynical refusal to relieve the people of south Bankers Hill and Middletown by creating a parking permit district, as they did for those living on Cortez Hill or around the hospitals in Hillcrest. Word is the fix is in on keeping anyone else free from having to feed the beast of parking income (yet another "[self-licking ice cream cone][1]"), even or especially if it punishes local residents over local travelers. LimeBike greases San Diego palms
Sherman's previous attack on the community planning groups got shot down last April, when the [county grand jury found no evidence][1] to back up his allegation that "CPGs tend to delay hearing certain items as a method of limiting growth in their communities." But rather than follow through on the one recommendation they did make that was in his control and could speed up approvals—to have city staff present at all CPG meetings—he keeps flinging crap to see what sticks. If Sherman was serious about actually making things more transparent and efficient, he would try to get the council to approve planning staff are available to answer questions (as they used to before Kev-boy) and money for administration as the city auditor suggests. But he won't do either, because the motive for attacking elected CPGs are the same as for his attacks [against public comment][2] and [removing dark money][3]: a hostility to democratic process itself. It's a good thing a politician who is so obviously compromised and biased is getting termed out, so he can be a [developer shill][4] off the taxpayer's dime. And a shame that's not what this story is about. Mission Beach Town Council stakes are big
The fix has long been in on these outsiders selling out our neighborhoods. But now the greed of these grifters is exceeded only by their arrogance. Lest anyone forget, the city attorney determined that [**all short term vacation rentals are illegal**][1], so the new rules these carpetbaggers fought to have rescinded, because they didn't give them enough privilege, actually removed any protections they would have had otherwise. The new city council should greatly expand the number of zoning investigators (from [the current number of 27][2]) and simply enforce existing code requirements. Peters declares for mayor, sort of
Well, when you put it like that, GO SCOTT!— December 12, 2018 2:55 p.m.
Peters declares for mayor, sort of
Seems like mayor would be a step back from Congress, but even more so for Peters, after all he did to get there. Sure hope it's not ego driving his decision, because giving up that seat in the House would frivolously put it in play again. And if that isn't enough to caution him, he should remember what happened to the last Democrat representative who became mayor.— December 12, 2018 10:44 a.m.
Escondido Target thieves recognized
Good thing they didn't try to take any white sheets: we wouldn't want you to not have anything to wear.— December 11, 2018 1:16 p.m.
Bob Dorn – Rest in peace
A great loss to everyone who still cares about the truth—or at least sincere efforts to untangle the webs of deceit the powerful weave for us. There is nothing sadder than realizing, "We won't see his like again," is not simply a compliment, it's an indictment.— December 5, 2018 12:20 p.m.
Public integrity league shuts down
I believe you are confusing the Lincoln Club, a group of selfish straight mostly white people, with the Log Cabin Republicans, a group of selfish LGBT mostly white people. But even so, both are indeed idiots or scoundrels.— December 5, 2018 7:45 a.m.
Liberty Station quietly sold for $71 million
Just when you think Kev-boy can't sink any lower, he finds slime under the scum to wriggle in. He cravenly rushed this through eleven days after Peters' letter demanding enforcement of [the Guidelines for NTC][1] in a pitiful attempt to shirk responsibility. What I can't understand is why Mara Elliott would get down in the filth with him. Guess we'll just have to wait to see how much she eventually gets from McMillin and/or Seligman—but for this and her other collaborator behavior, she's already lost my vote. Shame on every sleazy politico involved in this betrayal of the trust of their office, and for cowardly ordering subordinates to do their dirty work.
