Courier — perfect typeface for those making a stand
That's why I emphasized she was younger than me, and was hired at a graphic design firm. And this was in the early aughts. No, it was definitely about her asserting control (one of many such actions, which ultimately led to her firing). Otherwise I agree to just shake my head over anachronisms.— August 9, 2017 1:34 p.m.
Kasowitz flack cut his teeth in San Diego
With that kind of tacky self-reference, I'm surprised he hasn't also claimed as epithets "The Big Shill," "An Accomplished Accomplice," or "Your Better Abettor."— August 9, 2017 11:19 a.m.
Courier — perfect typeface for those making a stand
I once had a *younger* boss (from Hell) who insisted we underlings put two spaces after the period in any correspondence. Yet this was at a graphic design firm, where [typography was everything][1]. Which brings me to my point: watch out for those whose "long-slumbering passion" on this topic is more about power plays and passive aggression than full stop spacing. Ugly cyclist-car encounter in Kensington
There are definitely true believers who think they should have space physically separated exclusively for them on public roads and that not having these coddling corridors is [the only reason][1] everyone else isn't like them. But these people are very useful to [pro-developer front groups][2], which are pushing for bike paths as part of their "multimodal infrastructure" agenda. As [I've mentioned before][3], the argument is if we have streets with unused bike lanes, half-empty buses, and restricted vehicle mobility, then developers can claim [density bonuses that allow them to not provide parking][4] yet still charge market rates, pocketing the difference. It's [a disaster already happening][5] in slow motion. P.S. It's still legal in San Diego to bicycle on sidewalks or to ride in the street *even where* these protected bikeways are installed—and both are privileges the bike supremacists insist on keeping. Now *that* is entitled! Schooler brothers' sister disbarred for mishandling family estate
Can't imagine what kind of bad parenting resulted in all three children turning into such immoral cheats. At least now they're bilking each other instead of the public.— August 3, 2017 9:14 a.m.
Lockheed Martin to pay $5.8 million to clean up bay
"To help ease the sting, the Port of San Diego will waive 36 months of rent, amounting to a $200,000 savings for the company"? So $7,200 a month is all the Port has been charging for 61,000 square feet with private bay shoreline?! That's a 4-bedroom mini-dorm in the College Area! No wonder we can't have nice things.— August 1, 2017 11:27 p.m.
Passing out food on the Pala reservation
Great. Appreciate your changing it.— August 1, 2017 3:49 p.m.
Passing out food on the Pala reservation
Thanks for showing the local side of the national issue with rural nutrition. However, the headline is misleading: Feeding San Diego's [2016 tax return][1] shows no income from "Government grants (contributions)." This organization is funded by private donations and ran by people helping others precisely because government is *not* feeding them. (Here's looking at you, county supervisors). Please, Reader editors, give credit where it is due. [1]: http://rct.doj.ca.gov/Verification/Web/Download.a…— August 1, 2017 2:30 p.m.
Hidden costs of SD homes are nation's third highest
But when you factor in the effects of neglected road maintenance costing more in car repairs and tax monies being eaten up by settlements in wrongful conduct lawsuits and frivolous giveaways to billionaires, **San Diego is #1!**— July 31, 2017 1:35 p.m.
Ugly cyclist-car encounter in Kensington
Studies show that aggressive driving is connected to [identifying with one's car][1]. Given the [saving-the-world self-importance][2] of the bike supremacists, there's no reason to think they're any different psychologically from a douche-y BMW driver. Both mess with the rest of us just trying to get from A to B in peace. Oh, and since it got left out of the narrative, here's a screen cap from the video of the "Lycra Avenger" bravely giving the finger from safety: [1]: https://www.consumerreports.org/cro/news/2011/10/… [2]: http://www.bikebiz.com/news/read/bike-nation-how-… http://www.sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2017/j…— July 28, 2017 10:52 a.m.
