Trump supporter calls out Scott Marks
So much of Hair Führer's shameless and endlessly grasping behavior reminds me of one of his biggest allies, the gambling mogul Sheldon Adelson. In particular, this exchange from a 2008 profile about Adelson in the *New Yorker* could have been written yesterday about 45: > Rice taped Adelson at one meeting when he was issuing orders. “About a month > later, Sheldon came back and said, ‘You guys have done this all wrong, you didn’t follow my directions!’ ” Chudnofsky recalled. “Alan Rice said, ‘Stop for a second, Shel—I’m going to play a tape of the meeting for you.’ And Sheldon said the following: **‘What are you guys, crazy? Who are you gonna believe, me or the tape?’** ” https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2008/06/30/the…— September 20, 2018 12:10 p.m.

No In-N-Out burgers on Dem cruise to New Orleans
Journalists advocating for a "post-literacy world" makes as much sense as scientists advocating for a "post-evidence world." It rejects the very thing that makes its activity possible. This is the foolery that happens when money people think their knowledge of money makes them experts on everything.— September 12, 2018 10:48 a.m.
U.S. audit hits Sheriff 's crime lab
Fish rots from the head down; and few are more rotten than Gore. Shame voters didn't have this further proof of his rollicking incompetence before the election—it might have made a difference. Oh who am I kidding?— September 12, 2018 10 a.m.
DMV building doesn't fit the neighborhood
Gloria has been on the city council and in the assembly for this area during the entire cycle of this project, including when it was first [planned for mixed use][1]. But he's claiming at the last minute to be just as surprised as anyone else? That's just not believable. He *must* have known that the mixed use got ditched; and it's clear he only reacted once the public outcry got too loud to ignore. We've already have a Republican do-nothing mayor—we don't need [a Democrat one][2]. This bodes ill for both respect for the rule of law and maintaining the peace. The system has warped when bad behavior is rewarded by punishing good behavior. It used to be that law-abiding people would think twice before responding to violence with violence—if only to keep from getting a criminal record themselves. Now the only reason to hesitate is fear that an assailant is armed or physically stronger. Once a critical mass of people realize nothing will *ever* happen if they respond to violence with violence (unless a cop is watching), we're back to the Wild West, with brawls on every block at all hours involving every level of society.— September 4, 2018 11:22 a.m.
Water or sand in El Monte Valley?
This is a MASSIVE scandal. The same people illegally mining $2 billion worth of sand were rewarded for their theft by being allowed to buy the same sensitive public land for $9 million? And this scam involved (and still involves) public officials with direct financial benefit over decisions made about the property? This is so blatantly corrupt it's ridiculous, and the CA attorney general should step in to void the sale, or at least enforce the environmental, tribal, and other protections which would make this scheme worthless. Because make no mistake otherwise—this whole area will be [raped and scraped for sand][1], leaving nothing but a wasteland behind.
