DMV to Waive Renewal Fees
Speaking of garbage.... It's the "Wrong for America" right wing conservative, libertarian and TEA Party (Theocratic Evangelical Anarchist Party) that is the garbage that needs to be thrown out. Ever since that old fool Reagan sold the trash of trickle down economics to the gullible and under educated we have been in a decline. IF, and that is a big fat IF, tax cuts for the rich would indeed create jobs, we ought to be awash in them. Especially after all the tax cuts for the rich shoved down our throats. Where is all that trickle down? Gone. THANKS a lot Reagan , Bush and Bush. Remeber Clinton? We had a balanced budget and even a surplus. It is the conservatives who are the real trash and it is time for America to rid herself of that refuse! OBAMA AND A STRAIGHT DEMOCRATIC TICKET IN 2012 AND THEREAFTER.— July 19, 2011 8:02 a.m.
Who Plays Who: City Pension 401(k) Battle Edition
Public employees and teachers are not second class workers, they have every right to be represented by labor unions. I thought you guys believe in democracy? A labor union IS democracy at the work place. I'll never concede this.— July 7, 2011 6:44 p.m.
Who Plays Who: City Pension 401(k) Battle Edition
Sorry SurfPuppy619, the leeches are the "Wrong for America" right wing corporate shills whose first priority are the fatcat banksters, insurance moguls and energy barons, all supported and pandered to by Republicans, Libertarians and TEA Party (Theocratic Evangelical Anarchist Party)members, with a handfull of D.I.N.O.s thrown in. Time to restore the middle class by bringing back a strong Union movement, import tariffs and an end to not the Bush taxcuts, but doing away with the Reagan taxcuts for the rich!— July 7, 2011 1:09 p.m.
Who Plays Who: City Pension 401(k) Battle Edition
401k plans are fine and dandy for the banksters who hawk them. Sure, there are good 401k plans and other investment vehicles out there, but when it comes to pensions, the safetynet of one's final years, I trust the government a whole lot more than ANY investment in the private sector. Ask those who had their life savings and retirement nesteggs in such stellar enterprises like..... enron??? I hope the brave fire fighters and other civil servants will insist in keeping their pensions the way THEY see fit and not cave to the whims of politicians whose mantra is nothing more than taxcuts for the wealthy, less regulation of the bankster / insurance corporations and privatizing social safety nets.— July 6, 2011 12:24 p.m.
Activist Groups Call for End to War on Drugs
All well put, but you forgot something. There are people who are gainfully employed and purchase their drugs with earned money. I am one of those. My body is to old to sell, I don't need to steal, nor am I a dealer. To categorically lump drug users in the three categories you mentioned and completely ignoring the fact that there are millions of functioning, responsible drug users reeks more of the old and tried. While you stated your case eloquently, I prefer to reason with liberal Democrats, rather than succumbing to the laisez faire approach of the Libertarian party. I have yet to see a sensible approach from Libertarians to any of our other problems the nation faces, such as tax give-aways to the rich ad multi-national corporations, strengthening the social safety net, universal health care and the rest of the needs we as a nation have. I am a legal cannabis user here in California, but I am not a single issue voter. Ending the phony war on some drugs is about the only issue where I can agree with the position of the Libertarian Party. When it comes to Social Security, Medicare, MediCal / Medicaid, the Department of Education, the EPA, Tax policy and renewable energy, the Libertarians fail as miserably as the Republicans or the TEA party. After Smoking My Medicine...
Diana, thanks for the kind words. I did a yahoo search for egocentricotomy and the only result is Twisters post. I also checked my Medicare hand book, and no, it is not only not covered, it also is not mentioned. Twister obviously missed the point of my post, which has nothing to do with my using medical cannabis. The point I was trying to make is about how we as a nation approach our common problems, such as jobs, deficits and other problems. Unfortunately it seems like Twister is more concerned with passing judgement on legal medical use of a herb, rather than adding substance to a discussion on America's dismal voting habits and the failure of those elected to do the peoples' job. My reason for opening my essay as I did was meant to get attention. Some people, however seem to be more occupied with passing judgement.— June 10, 2011 8:41 a.m.
Mel Shapiro's Lawsuit Against the District Attorney's Office
There would be very little if DA Bonnie would have complied with a reasonable request. Having said that it is time someone holds those accountable who hold the rest of us accountable.— June 8, 2011 1:12 p.m.
Sheriff Looking To Order Some Heavy Iron
Excellent point! Here is another comparison of Japanese and American culture. Have you heard of looting after the earthquake / tsunami disaster? How about hurricane Katrina?— June 8, 2011 12:50 p.m.
Sheriff Looking To Order Some Heavy Iron
Just another toy for over zealous cops to use and brutalize citizens. Just as taseres did not decrease killings by cops they only increased the "torture" arsenal. (for lack of a better term) When I visited SD last year, I was given a citation for illegal parking. The officer made a ton mistakes on the ticket - it got dismissed - and the only thing he got right was the license plate. You really want to give those buffoons another toy to play with???— June 7, 2011 8:03 p.m.
What do you want done with your body after you die?
I really don't care. Since I won't be around TO care. But seriously, if there are any parts worth using, go for it or let a university student have fun disecting and learning.— August 28, 2010 1:09 p.m.
