Ted Leitner has on-air meltdown at SDSU game
The security guard was doing his or her job and should be commended. The guard saw a suitcase and properly attempted to identify the owner. Leitner should not be allowed to bring a suitcase into a stadium. Nobody should, for obvious safety reasons. Never be surprised when Ted Leitner acts like Ted Leitner.— March 16, 2014 11:45 p.m.

State police departments using cell-phone trackers
Maybe Goldy put a stingray in the hotel room across the street from Mad Bob Filner's office to listen in on his cell phone calls.— March 16, 2014 11:40 a.m.
CPUC shows its inbred corruption
Sempra's stock is priced as if insiders or certain investors intend to acquire the company in a leveraged buy out or management is trying to sell the company. Sempra's stock price is way too high, considering the company's recent risky investments. For example, Mexican energy projects, etc. The rise in stock price makes no sense, unless there's something going on behind the scenes the public does not know about.— March 7, 2014 9:55 a.m.
Hotel downsizes for financial reasons
High rise hotels, as an industry segment, have not been profitable since the late 1960s. Hotels that attempt to operate without a national brand have extremely high foreclosure rates. Hotels that don't want to pay a 5% royalty for a national brand lack access to global reservation systems and as a result suffer low occupancy rates. This project is probably undercapitalized. Hence the need to cut the number of rooms.— March 4, 2014 11:27 p.m.
San Diego considered floating stadium 50 years ago
They could build the new stadium in Mexico, right on the border. Build it with Mexican labor and avoid high workers compensation costs, union feather bedding, the obscenity of prevailing wages, etc. If a worker gets killed give him a decent Christian burial like Jimmy Hoffa and put him in the foundation. Put the stadium on the Mexican side of Otay Mesa and the parking lots on the US side. The Mexicans could use the stadium for bull fights when the Chargers don't need it.— March 2, 2014 6:01 p.m.
Faulconer names SD's first female police chief
It's possible that through marriage you've eliminated the baldness gene from your family tree that's been the bane of the Bauder clan since before the reign of Julius Augustus Caesar.— March 1, 2014 12:21 p.m.
Faulconer names SD's first female police chief
The problem is that Zimmerman was actually running the department on a daily basis, not Lansdowne. So Lansdowne gets fired for trusting Zimmerman to run the department while Zimmerman, who caused the department's problems, is made Chief. Faulconer should have fired both of them and recruited someone from the outside. You can't make this crap up.— February 26, 2014 11:20 p.m.
For sale: Tony McCune's yacht at reduced price
Omitting the scandal from the article was disgraceful. The scandal no doubt boosted Tony's effectiveness as a TV pitchman and boosted his sales. You can't buy publicity like that.— February 22, 2014 6:14 p.m.
Rolando residents fight dorm-style project
If SDSU would stop admitting out of state students, and non-San Diegans, there would be no need for projects like this. San Diegan college students could live at home. SDSU keeps admitting out of state students with wealthy parents who bankroll what amounts to little more than a four drinking spree at the beach. Enrollment at SDSU needs to be cut back, to no more than 20,000. All graduates of San Diego County high schools should be given the opportunity to attend SDSU without regard to test scores or grades. Out of towners and out of staters should be sent packing.— February 22, 2014 5:55 p.m.
