SEC: One Touchdown, One Fumble
When Bobby goes to jail and the inmates get through with him his nickname will be Vaseline Vassallo.— October 27, 2010 9:33 p.m.
Mortgage Mess Could Hit Banks, Housing
Because stock ownership is so concentrated at the top, Del Mar’s Arthur Lipper III, an international investment banker who recently received a patent on his method for using royalties to invest in and finance companies, ============= Unfortunately for Mr. Lipper the Supreme Court recently ruled that investment models like his are not patentable.— October 27, 2010 9:27 p.m.
Three-Year SD Consumer Spending Drop Worst Since Great Depression
Many economists are predicting that Bernanke will artifically boost the inflation rate in order to jump start consumer spending. He has no other tools left. Bernanke believes that high inflation rates spur consumer spending as consumers rush to buy products in order to beat expected future price increases. Of course he will wipe out the elderly and savers if he boosts the inflation rate. Bernanke is a lunatic.— October 22, 2010 7:14 p.m.
Sanders's "Frighten 'Em" Prop. D Scam
It's going to get real ugly very soon. When the sales tax increase fails, Pudge Sanders is going to have to start earning his salary. He's going to have to start firing people and use liposuction to suck the fat out of City Hall. He is going to have to approach the unions and ask them to take a real pay cut, perhaps 20% or more. If the unions balk, he'll have to fire hundreds. The lard asses in the Police Department are going to have to give up their cushy desk jobs and try to squeeze themselves back into a uniform so they can patrol the streets and earn their pay.— October 20, 2010 8:27 p.m.
Vexatious Litigant Loses Appeal
It's not clear to me how Kinder was intentionally subjecting himself to unwanted telephone calls. I believe that his actions in suing these companies for violating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act was within the law. The legal system should not deny him his day in court merely because he asserted his legal rights in an organized and systematic manner. Kinder was certainly entitled to tape record the illegal calls and engage witnesses to help him defend his rights against telephone solicitors who were systematically thumbing their noses at the law. I receive an illegal telephone soliciation at least once a night. I am going to starting suing these businesses in small claims court. The guy in the link below made $6,000 suing telemarketers in small claims court. http://redtape.msnbc.com/2007/02/suing_telemarke.…— October 19, 2010 8:23 p.m.
Judge Permits Channel 10 to Use Videotape of Sanders Deposition in Kessler Case
I hope Channel 10 puts the entire tape on You Tube, and not just edited snippets.— October 19, 2010 7:21 p.m.
Gay & Lesbian Times Doesn't Make It to Print This Week
I wonder how Dumanis could possibly prove that Portantino inflated circulation. Circulation has nothing to do with the numbers of papers that are printed. The key issue is how many people read each issue of the paper. If a single issue of the GLT was dropped off at a laundromat, or hair salon, dozens of people could have read that single issue. Dumbmanis is never going to be able to prove to a jury that Portantino inflated circulation. She probably will not be able to find an expert who could even describe circulation to a jury, or how to estimate it.— October 18, 2010 9:29 p.m.
State Universities Getting Fat on Potentially Biased Oil Research Contracts
Most of the research performed at the California state universities is a total scam, particularly at SDSU. The only reason SDSU receives research funds is because Bob Filner, Nancy Peloser, and the other politicians force the federal government to grant research contracts to SDSU. Were it not for this political pressure SDSU would not receive a dime of federal research money. Once SDSU receives a research contract, it siphons off most of the federal funds to pay for overhead, bloat, and inflated salaries at the research foundation. Research monies sent to SDSU are being flushed down the toilet. SDSU needs to get back to its core function of educating teachers and abandon its research programs and delusions of grandeur.— October 16, 2010 1:30 p.m.
Tentative Ruling: Judge Won't Throw Out Kessler Suit
I still predict that Pudge Sanders will not have to appear for the deposition or testify in court. The City will try to get Kessler to agree to hold off on the deposition, in exchange for settlement negotiations. I predict that Kessler will settle his case with the City for $1.5 million and that Sanders will not be deposed. There's a lot of legal risk for the City if Sanders is deposed, particularly if he shows up for the deposition at the tail end of a three day bender, or after a liquid lunch.— October 14, 2010 8:30 p.m.
City Wants Kessler Suit Thrown Out
It makes you wonder why she ran unopposed last time. Did she bring some of the east coast mafia with here? =========== Dumanis prosecuted the Wilkening case. She has the Rolodex of clients. The Rolodex is the source of her power.— October 13, 2010 11:45 p.m.
