I looked Leaf up on Zabasearch.com and viewed his Montana house using Google Street View. He appears to be living in a decent, though modest, house. I expected to see him living in a hovel, but apparently he still has money. Unlike many who invested in non-traded REITs, Leaf may live long enough to see the return of his investment if he gets off the dope. He may be receiving a decent cash payout from the REITs, enough to maintain himself financially. Ray Luciani may be managing Leaf's money and keeping him solvent. — April 25, 2012 7:57 p.m.
Timothy Alan Simon: Commissioner with a Past
Pete Wilson, a Yale Law School graduate, sat for the California Bar exam four times before he passed. Pete likely got into Yale because his father was VP at Ralston Purina. His admission could not have been based on merit. Simon doesn't appear to be any dumber than disgraced former San Diego Mayor Dick Murphy. He was Havard Law and nobody ever accused him of being a rocket scientist. There's a lot of dumb white guys with Ivy league law degrees.— April 27, 2012 3:15 p.m.
Tom Blair Laid Off by UT
I hate to see Blair leave. They should get rid of Bell. Her column is awful.— April 26, 2012 7:10 p.m.
Timothy Alan Simon: Commissioner with a Past
That's exactly what I meant. You must have read my mind.— April 25, 2012 10 p.m.

Housing Market May Stay Weak for a Generation
Factoring in inflation, the real price of housing in San Diego has probably declined by at least 50% since the November 2005 peak. The values need to increase by 3% to 4% each year just to keep pace with the real inflation rate.— April 25, 2012 12:12 a.m.
U-T Saw Ryan Leaf as a Savior
Leaf likely went over the edge and suffered a relapse after he learned his singing bonus was invested in non-traded REITs.— April 23, 2012 9:15 p.m.
SDGE Smart Meter Opt-Out Plan Approved
The problem with the technology is that it operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A much more reasonable solution is to design the device so that it only transmits the customer's electricity usage one time, at the end of the month. That way the device would only operate for a few seconds instead of continuously. There's a lot of vandalism in my neighborhood. I'm afraid that if the device is installed, vandals will smash it with a hammer forcing SDG&E to bear the cost of replacing the device on a monthly basis.— April 20, 2012 11:19 p.m.
Happiness Guru Tony Robbins Bemoans Deficits
Robbins is the missing link that anthropologist Louis Leakey spent his life searching for but never found. Had Leakey known of Robbins birth before his untimely death in 1972, he would have been able to prove that man descended from the ape. Robbinsopithecus is the missing genus that connects man to ape.— April 19, 2012 6:47 p.m.
SDGE Smart Meter Opt-Out Plan Approved
There's going to be a brain cancer and leukemia epidemic in a few short years unless public outrage puts the kibosh on the Smart Meter. The Smart Meter is a cancer incubator.— April 19, 2012 6:33 p.m.
