SDSU: crime abounds
I think what Tom is trying to say is that a SDPD officer vacationing in San Francisco can legally carry a weapon and make an arrest if (s)he witnesses a random crime. If an SDPD Officer on official duty wants to arrest a suspect or fugitive in San Francisco, s(he) would have to first report his or her presence to the San Francisco Chief of Police and request assistance.— November 24, 2012 8:33 p.m.

Bob Hope's Palm Springs digs up for sale
Citizen Kane was a pile of manure too.— November 22, 2012 12:25 a.m.
David Copley, 60, dead in La Jolla car crash
The assets will probably go to a charitable foundation that will be set up in Copley's name. I'm sure Andrew Shelton will receive enough money to live on. Copley's maids and domestic help will probably receive some cash to shut them up. The executor will probably fire the yacht crew ASAP to preserve the estate's assets and put the yacht up for sale. The Copley family ancestral home, Foxhill, will probably be sold to a developer and razed. A developer could subdivide the property and build 10 or more luxury estates and make a tidy profit. I don't know if Copley left any money to his half-brother Michael. My guess is the bulk of his wealth goes to a foundation for the arts with a modest annual stipend for Shelton.— November 21, 2012 9:29 p.m.
Bob Hope's Palm Springs digs up for sale
I saw almost all of the great movies of the 1950s and 1960s at either the Frontier or Midway Drive-Ins when they first came out. Many critics believe that Taras Bulba is the worst movie ever made. The critics are wrong. I saw Son of Pale Face in Culver City around 1960 and it is clearly the worst movie ever made.— November 21, 2012 7:48 p.m.
Jack disappoints
Jack's CEO attributes the company's problems to high unemployment and low earnings in its customer demographic. I went to Jack in the Box a year or so ago when they were offering the Bonus Jack with Jack's secret sauce as a promotion. None of the stores I visited were willing to sell Bonus Jacks even though they were on the menu. A similar situation occurred in the 1970s when Jack was selling burgers made with Kangaroo meat. I tried to buy a 'Roo burger but the line at the store was almost a mile long. By the time I got to the counter the 'Roo burgers were sold out. Fisticuffs broke out when the meat ran out.— November 20, 2012 8:20 p.m.
Bob Hope's Palm Springs digs up for sale
Bob Hope had no talent whatsover. I can't explain how he made so much money. He was not funny and could not act.— November 19, 2012 11:09 p.m.
QCOM casts a vote for Fletcher
Pudge Sanders wanted Fletcher's job at Qualcomm but Jacobs wouldn't hire him because his I.Q. was too low.— November 16, 2012 12:07 a.m.
"Oh, my aching backtesting"

Did Sanders trade his DeMaio support for chamber job?
Filner’s task now is to raise money to fund the Democratic Party’s operations in San Diego County. He will seek funding from the same corporate interests that bankrolled DeMaio’s campaign. The 6 to 6 program will cost maybe $10 million a year to fund and Filner will probably divert another $20 million or so from Civic San Diego’s annual budget to pay for street repairs so he can say he fulfilled his promises. He will leave the majority of Civic San Diego’s funding in place and downtown development will continue at a little slower pace. There’s little difference between a Filner and a DeMaio administration. DeMaio would have slashed employee pay to raise cash to pay for pet projects while Filner will merely raise taxes to pay for those same projects. Like every man Filner has a price. The downtown overlords will find that price. You've been had.— November 15, 2012 10:34 p.m.
