Three San Diego lawyers disbarred
There's value in publicizing disbarments. The public should be aware that many lawyers are thieves.— March 11, 2013 9:14 p.m.
The unmaking and making of Roger Hedgecock
It appears that Hedgecock owns apartments and industrial buildings all over San Diego, and as many as 60 apartment buildings in Las Vegas. By all rights Hedgecock should have been ruined when he resigned as mayor under a cloud. Instead, he arose like the Phoenix from the ash heap of a ruined political career to attain great wealth as a real estate investor.— March 9, 2013 3:54 p.m.
Chargers hawking combined convention center/roofed stadium
It might be cheaper to have Nassco construct a floating football stadium on a large barge. When not in use the floating stadium could be stored in Ensenada and transported as needed to San Diego Harbor by ocean going tugs.— March 8, 2013 10:45 p.m.
RV parking ban planned for streets west of I-5
There are several thousand homeless people in San Diego who live in motorhomes. The law is designed to force them out of the beach areas where they congregate.— March 8, 2013 7:43 p.m.
Plans for Fairmount Avenue to become a “superior street”
The Grantville trolley station is an architectural atrocity.— March 4, 2013 11:16 p.m.
Peevey, supposed to be neutral, pushed secretly for Pio Pico
Actually, the utilities' donations to non-profits don't flow through the CPUC. Their largesse to nonprofits is above and beyond the ratepayer-funded programs administered by the CPUC, ========= This is not accurate. Peevey has the authority to decide who gets the donations. In 2011 a bill was introduced in the state legislature to strip him of his authority. He uses his authority to control nonprofits. http://www.turn.org/issues/energy/item/511-legisl…— March 4, 2013 10:47 p.m.
Peevey, supposed to be neutral, pushed secretly for Pio Pico
It would appear that Peevey is able to retain his position due to the fact the utilities voluntarily donate funds to the CPUC for distribution to non-profits. These non-profits employ lots of democratic party apparatchik. Peevey has his hand on the spigot and determines who gets watered. If the governor gets rid of Peevey, the voluntary contributions stop and the non-profits don't get any dough.— March 1, 2013 8:05 p.m.
California Border Patrol agent guilty of battery got probation
The Border Patrol will probably transfer Helwig to a state where she can legally carry a gun despite her misdemeanor conviction in California. Now that Helwig's been convicted, the victim is probably going to sue Hellwig for assault.— March 1, 2013 4:39 p.m.
Illegal recycler tracked down by SDPD in Ocean Beach
Recycling is a money loser, not a revenue generator. It costs more to truck and ship recyclables than the recyclables are worth. A large percentage of the materials you place in your recycle bin are never recycled due to cost and are dumped in the landfill like regular trash. I say let the homeless and poor scavenge what they can from recycle bins and stop prosecuting them. Those two police officers are standing there basically doing nothing on company time when they should be out chasing crooks. The "criminal" probably won't show up in court because there's no money to pay the fine. An arrest warrent will eventually be issued for failure to appear and the culprit will be arrested and put in jail. This is going to wind up costing taxpayers $10,000 or more. But the cops have to keep arresting people to keep the judges, bailiffs, court clerks, etc. fully employed.— February 28, 2013 5:02 p.m.
Peevey, supposed to be neutral, pushed secretly for Pio Pico
It looks like Peevey is performing under the table favors to insure he receives a sinecure from Sempra when he completes his government "service." Peevey belongs in a penitentiary with a ball and chain attached to his leg.— February 27, 2013 10:42 p.m.
