La Jolla hotel burglar still fighting for new trial
McNeely was sentenced under the three-strikes law. He had 11 prior felony convictions before he was arrested for the La Jolla burglaries.— October 12, 2013 9:16 p.m.
Kerry Steigerwalt practicing law again
Many observers assumed the State Bar would audit Pacific Legal Center's books to find out where the money went, and determine whether there was chicanery. Apparently, there will be no audit to explain where the money went. Steigerwalt claimed he sold his rental properties and used the money to make his clients whole. I understand that many clients are still short. All in all, I think the State Bar really screwed up. Meting out a 1 year suspension as punishment is truly laughable in relation to the charges.— October 9, 2013 11:13 p.m.
San Diego overlords and unions — who can stop them?
Mike was the one as City Attorney. He'll be an even bigger one as Mayor— October 7, 2013 12:48 a.m.
Tony Robbins to spend up to $10 million on Florida mansion
This is an obvious sign of belt tightening in a down economy. If the economy was booming Robbins would have razed house and built a new one. Robbins is in financial straits and can only afford to spend $10 million. Even the rich are suffering.— October 5, 2013 9:49 a.m.
Barbara Sinatra reveals true identity of Ronan Farrow's father
Ronan is the son of a thousand fathers. It's certain that Woody Allen is not his father. He bears no resemblance to Woody.— October 4, 2013 4:01 p.m.
San Diego overlords and unions — who can stop them?
As evidenced by the latest fight at Qualcomm stadium captured on Youtube, the Chargers are attracting the lowest tier and scum of society as fans. I would like to see both the Chargers and the Padres leave San Diego for good. Once the teams have gone the politicians can settle down and run the city. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMFexuJW128— October 3, 2013 10:20 a.m.
Paul Pfingst is accused of secreting evidence
The DA is probably trying to work a deal with Cihak: The DA goes easy on the daughter in exchange for Cihak's help in destroying Paul Pfingst. Dumanis probably wants to settle an old grudge by putting the kibosh on Pfingst's legal career.— October 2, 2013 10:03 p.m.
Former Ethics Commissioner disciplined by state bar
It looks like Haney got special treatment. All the charges against her were dismissed. There's no evidence of the drunk driving, hit and run, etc in the Superior Court index. She has a clean record. See below This is another indication that Bonnie Dumanis is a corrupt DA. This really stinks. http://courtindex.sdcourt.ca.gov/CISPublic/enter— September 29, 2013 4:12 p.m.
GOP fat cats set to party hearty at Manchester resort this weekend
A bash like this is bound to attract hundreds of out of town hookers looking to make a quick buck.— September 27, 2013 8:54 p.m.
Coastal Commission staff says "No" on convention center expansion
There's not much interest in sports in San Diego. No more than 15,000 fans are actually willing to purchase a ticket for any given Padres or Chargers game. Most of the tickets sold are purchased in bulk by businesses and distributed gratis to favored customers. For example, plumbing wholesalers distribute free tickets to plumbers who spend a lot to keep them from going to the Home Depot. Few sports enthusiasts are willing to purchase tickets with their own funds, but will attend games if the tickets are free.— September 27, 2013 7:25 p.m.
