Did interim mayor Todd Gloria have the authority to rescind stop-use order for Jack in the Box?
Gloria is a weasel, now with a well-established habit of hemming and hawing and equivocating and backtracking - not too surprising among politicians at his level. It's hard to know if that type of behavior is really at the core of a pol, if you don't know them or they have no record. But one way to discover what a candidate/elected person is all about is to talk to their staff. If the staff lie outright over issues that their boss hedges on, you know that their boss is bad. Staffers lie because they've been told to by their bosses. I met Gloria when he first ran for council. At the same time, the issue of the Greater Golden Hill assessment district was being pushed forward. I knew nothing about it or what it might mean for my neighborhood and my property, so I asked Gloria. He quite sincerely stated that he'd "heard of it, would look into it." Never heard back from him. I did my own research and could see that the assessments were largely a waste of money, a privatization scam, a violation of state law, a twisting of local law, and definitely a tool to empower and enrich a certain group of people in my neighborhood who I knew to be on the wrong side of everything. Not hearing from Gloria I later called Stephen Hill, Gloria's staffer. Hill feigned ignorance of the assessment laws and plans for my area, so I actually thought I was being helpful by sending him info. I asked for help to stop the illegal process prior to its imposition. In doing more research, I found City documents about the assessments with Hill's name all over them. He was part of Gloria's alliance with others to push it forward. I confronted Hill about his pretended ignorance, and he just sat in silence, staring into space. Gloria lies, his staff lies. He's unelectable by anyone who abhors liars.— September 1, 2013 2:02 p.m.
Did interim mayor Todd Gloria have the authority to rescind stop-use order for Jack in the Box?
Well, "started the feud" is the first misguided idea. Walked into the hate is more like it. Whatever. Carry on the hate. Won't change reality. So, NO. Believe all you want. Won't change reality. And this is between TG, JG, and the people. BF is gone.— August 31, 2013 6:57 p.m.
Hueso, Emerald reconfirm statements on DeMaio behavior
For the record, Yankee, both of the women that were supposedly the final straw for the reluctant Emerald and Cole were obviously not studied by either councilperson. Both accusers were celebrity-seeking women with lots of easily found baggage, for anyone who looked at the volumes of stuff they posted about themselves on the Internet. There was nothing real about their accusations, even though the tantalizing way CNN/Ch 10 played it out on TV became another meme with no connection to reality. Who pressured Emerald/Cole to denounce Filner at that time, using those women and their ludicrous stories? Why didn't Emerald/Cole take a simple look at the ridiculousness of the accusations and the exaggeration of personas of the accusers? History may tell.— August 29, 2013 8:33 a.m.
Number of mayoral candidates now stands at nine...make that 13
Just got polled by a company called SSI as to which of a list of candidates I would vote for or considered unfavorable, for mayor. The candidate choices (I laughed out loud at the last choice): Gloria Saldana DeMaio Faulconer Ron Roberts Fletcher Matt Romney I rated them very (or somewhat; Saldana) unfavorable and said no vote for any of them. Who hired SSI? They merged 2 years ago with a Utah firm, Opinionology.— August 28, 2013 7:18 p.m.
Ministry director blames Peters, staff, for not expediting his IRS tax exemption request
Quite a few thoughts come to mind wrt Mr. Karges' placement of authority and assignations of blame. Cognitive dissonance at its best.— August 28, 2013 6:33 p.m.
City will indemnify resigning Filner, with some hedges
Here's a thoughtful analysis, by an author who writes for The Humanist: http://alrodbell.blogspot.com/2013/08/bob-filner-… And from Jewish World: http://www.sdjewishworld.com/2013/08/24/and-so-be…— August 26, 2013 6:52 p.m.

City will indemnify resigning Filner, with some hedges
And now the pseudopress are analyzing conspiracies in the way that all propagandists do. It has been said that if these sycophants ever grow up, they could be dangerous. I can take heart in disbelieving that they will ever grow up, and will instead stagnate at the level where they currently exist, or below that.— August 26, 2013 6:35 p.m.

Four more candidates enter fray to replace Mayor Bob Filner
These people must get some odd satisfaction by filing for a race they cannot win. Hard to imagine. But people are fond of public notice: for example, how about the City employee [you wrote about in July][1], Stacy McKenzie. She's suddenly decided that Filner's last goodbye was the last straw for her. Have to wonder why she didn't get on the Allred reality show. That story you wrote in July didn't mention one other character, Lani Lutar, who was also part of the Mission Bay Park Committee crowd. Photos of the Clairemont Day at the Bay, where McKenzie claims she was harassed, show Zapf with Cindy Marten. [1]: http://www.sandiegoreader.com/weblogs/news-ticker…— August 26, 2013 3:42 p.m.
