DeMaio may change his mind, run for mayor
Of course you aren't anti-gay, Don, and neither am I. It never occurred to me that irresistable, dumb masturbation jokes could be construed as such. Normal masturbation is a normal activity for all people (even animals), BUT in the right place, at the right time. Now is a good moment to remember that what destroyed Filner were allegations of behavior that is also widely viewed as normal, but it occurred in the wrong place, at the wrong time. Unlike the DeMaio behavior, Filner's alleged behavior wasn't immediately reported or documented in a memo to a City official. Allegations vs. eye-witness and documented accounts. Go figure. The newly formed media purity squads are going ballistic over "efforts to smear DeMaio," and they have suddenly discovered journalistic standards.— August 25, 2013 10:56 p.m.
DeMaio may change his mind, run for mayor
Props all around, both mal y bueno. Best comments in town. Monaghan, great summary of the Fletch. As has been said previously, the only possible thing left for him to switch is gender ID. You never know. Now. ... OK. Someone has to say it: DeMaio won't run for mayor because he has a deep-seated need to beat Peters. Final thought for the day: Is dweebat dangerous?— August 25, 2013 8:24 a.m.
City will indemnify resigning Filner, with some hedges
Good luck, BobFilner. You did the best you could in a town full of hyenas and jackals. You'll go on to do other good things. To those of us who voted for you and would do so again, we got the political sanity we hoped for. To those of you who destroyed a good person, you'll get what you deserve. Coming soon.— August 23, 2013 7:06 p.m.
DeMaio's men's room masturbation went unreported (updated 8/26)
Let me be the first to remind: Carl named his org The Performance Institute, which he [describes][1] as the "nation's largest and most influential governmental reform think tank." Ahhh. Yeccch. I'm beginning to get the picture. Having watched Carl go completely, full-bore, red-faced, mean-mouthed ballistic in more than one council session, I know that we need to learn more about his possible psychiatric status: Avoidant Personality Disorder, which includes compulsive masturbation. As for rushing into the public bathroom to masturbate, Carl may have slyly summed it up: ""I am first and foremost someone whose passion is public service, not business. ... If we can show reform in San Diego, it becomes a model nationwide." Yow, yecch. This is where randy Randy could apply his only expertise. As the former writer for Sex Drive Daily, randy Randy could flesh this out for us instead of wasting his time playing around. Filner, Goldsmith met today: reports
DRot is making stuff up. He didn't misread anything, didn't call Joshua Marshall out (as if he could) (oh wait, "**tried**" to call him out, the tell) and Josh didn't respond to him. Truly pathetic. Needy.— August 19, 2013 6:40 p.m.
Filner, Goldsmith met today: reports
I was very impressed with the dignity of all of the speakers at today's supportive gathering for Mayor Filner. Thank you to everyone who spoke. A sharp contrast to the freaky ranting at the recall rally, where unions and the Democratic State lege were the Teaparty's crosshairs.— August 19, 2013 6:26 p.m.
Filner, Goldsmith slated to meet tomorrow
UT reported about an hour ago that US Attys aren't involved, per their spokesman. But the report gave Reader credit for reporting that the meeting w/Filner/Goldsmith would occur. Inouï!— August 19, 2013 4:16 p.m.
Filner, Goldsmith slated to meet tomorrow
SJT - Hypocrisy update: You need to check with the loudest and smarmiest Filner recall advocate and Republican Party volunteer chairman (because who would pay him?), Tony Krvarik, on how to spell, because he went to see the inventor of misogyny, per his announcement: Tony Krvaric @TonyKrvaric 17 Aug About to hear from the great @rushlimbaugh in person for the first time. The things I do for Mrs. Krvaric on #datenight. #elrushbo #excited— August 19, 2013 3:07 p.m.
If Filner falls, so rise the Kochs?
It's looking like old home week at the UT, with Koch-funded shooters riding into town with loaded ideological guns cocked. In 2012, the Fort Worth, Texas, chapter of the Society for Professional Journalists reported that "The Franklin Center for Government & Public Integrity, a libertarian organization, gave the four-year-old venture [the failed *Texas Watchdog,* run and run into the ground by Manchester's new UT watchdog, **Trent Seibert**] $300,000 to cover its online-only efforts this last year [2012], which was enough to pay six full-time reporters and editors but not enough to keep going." Seibert tanked the muck-raking blog, saying "I've loved following the money when it comes to dirty officials, but I'm not good at getting the money to run the organization. I'm not a businessman. Part of this is my fault. If I was better at the fundraising side, maybe we'd be around a little bit more." He's not good at lots of things, as we have unfortunately witnessed. That can only mean he has arrived at exactly the right place, the UT, where he can fail with the security of his job assured.— August 19, 2013 1:47 p.m.
