What a teachers union has done to Gompers
This is just another hit piece on unions. Unions do not run the school. They do not make management decisions. They do not tell the teachers what to do. All union does is give voice to workers. Teachers decide and vote for their union leadership. Teachers tell the union what they want in a contract. The union negotiates with the school systems negotiator to arrive at a contract that can be presented to the teachers. The teachers then vote to accept or reject the contract. The teachers decide, not the union officials, if and when they strike. The unions job is to negotiate and after a contract is accepted to administer that contract and to represent their members. The difference between a union worker and a non-union worker is that the union worker has a contract with their employer. When you rent or buy a home or buy or lease a car or get phone, internet and phone service and even when you use a credit card you sign and agree to a contract. Why is it that when we go to work that we trust our employer to treat us fairly and pay us correctly? The one thing we do that allows us to support ourselves and our families and allows us to participate in the economy is having a job but we don't want a contract with the employer.— August 14, 2020 8:33 a.m.
Death, destruction and rebuilding in La Mesa
I hope that the merchants in the La Mesa Springs shopping center are prepared for this Saturday's riot. While peaceful protests are a right there are always some who hide behind a well meaning peaceful protest to foment hate and destruction.— July 30, 2020 7:52 a.m.
La Costa 48 survives appeal
The wealthy need some place to live. You can't expect someone who can afford a $2M home to live in a neighborhood where architecturally blighted homes sell for $700k.— July 30, 2020 7:45 a.m.

Essential views in Del Mar
Oh my! The problems of the elite. I planted trees so that I would not have to see my neighbor. But, then I don't have a view of the ocean.— July 15, 2020 8:27 a.m.

Spotty internet makes it hard to stay at home in Descanso
We all make choices. One of those choices is where we live. We can go anywhere in the US and live. If one chooses to live in the back country then they should not complain because they don't have something that is available in the greater metro area. My friend that lives "out back" does so because he does not want to live shoulder to shoulder in the city. He chose to live in east east county. His choice.— July 10, 2020 8 a.m.
