Why so many pedestrian accidents in San Diego?
Hit and run property damage carries a light sentence but not so much for injury/death hit and run. The problem is the difference between the sentence and the actual time served. The snooze media reports the sentence, say 5 years, and the public thinks that the dirt bag will spend 5 years in jail. Not so! With time served, good time credits, etc. the 5 years become 18 months.— May 2, 2019 7:36 a.m.
Car theft thwarted by Stronghold Jiu Jitsu teacher and students
The problem with the SDPD is it is one of the smallest force for a city the size of San Diego. The Silly Council has always prided itself on having a small police force. There are areas of San Diego that on weekends, holidays and day shifts have one patrol officer on duty. Unless and until the taxpayers of San Diego demand a competent and fully staffed police force these petty crimes will get no attention.— April 30, 2019 7:28 a.m.
Car theft thwarted by Stronghold Jiu Jitsu teacher and students
Not to pick the fly specks out of the pepper but there is a difference between a reserve officer and a retired volunteer.— April 30, 2019 7:25 a.m.
How to spend Oceanside money – pools or police?
"Rodriguez says he wants to privatize the pools . . " Really? Privatization equals profit. If a private firm runs anything it's goal is to make a profit. All privatizing would mean that the cost to the public to use the pool would go up and the wages and benefits to the employees would go down. Capitalists must make a profit above all. If a project is bid it usually goes to the lowest bidder. To make a profit the bid winner has to cut corners. The easiest corners to cut is wages and benefits. The employees and the public lose.— April 28, 2019 7:41 a.m.
Spring breakers flock to Rosarito
All is well until something happens. Just like in the Unites States there are dangerous places in Mexico. Hope those that go there will return home safely.— April 27, 2019 7:21 a.m.
Ghost rider in Escondido
The Mercedes-Benz W210 is one of the most unpopular vehicles MBZ ever made. Ugly then, ugly now.— April 27, 2019 6:55 a.m.
How to spend Oceanside money – pools or police?
When money becomes available everybody goes into a feeding frenzy. The Silly Council has to evaluate which projects are the most beneficial to the general public. What usually happens, however, is that the politicos spend the money on bigger and fancier buildings with their names on them.— April 27, 2019 6:54 a.m.
Mara Elliott warns city council on Brown Act
I hope so too. Of all the cities in San Diego County San Diego has been mismanaged since the 60's. The problem is that San Diego is so large and so diverse that it is like herding kittens.— April 25, 2019 5:42 p.m.
AEG and H&S lobbyists vying for fresh Sports Arena deal
Maybe I missed it but while the article points out the income it does not show the cost to the city. You can bet that the previous negotiators left the taxpayer holding the bag.— April 24, 2019 7:28 a.m.
Moshe Krafchow's plan to prevent San Diego wildfires
This idea is counter to President Trumps idea of "cleaning" the forest floors. Moshe should be getting a tweet soon.— April 24, 2019 7:25 a.m.
