GOP launches right-ward San Diego News Desk
Talk about the swamp! I really feel sorry for the saps that live in the City of San Diego.— July 31, 2019 11:47 a.m.
The curve of death at El Mirador
Same here. The politicos are always at the trough asking for more money.— July 31, 2019 11:44 a.m.
San Diego border agents face fentanyl death risk
I wish the UT was a real newspaper and covered local topics and not just a LA rag.— July 31, 2019 11:41 a.m.
Faulconer's data man Maksim Pecherskiy quits
The city needs to hire qualified people not political hacks. The only one that was worth two cents was Eduardo Luna. The residents deserve professional qualified people not political appointees who are obligated to suck at the teat of the politico that appointed them.— July 30, 2019 5:07 p.m.
Encanto slated for about 8000 low-income apartments
Why does everyone concentrate on building low-income housing when the real issue is low-wage jobs? Employers rely on taxpayer provided benefits, Medicaid, SNAP, EBT, Section 8, etc. to subsidize their profits. It is and has always been the notorious low wages that San Diego employers pay that creates the need for subsidized housing. I am fully behind helping those who can not work but it is the low-wage employer that needs to pay up for their labor and not the taxpayer.— July 30, 2019 5:01 p.m.
Friday La Mesa Farmers Market's won – or did it?
Nothing will ever change the minds of those who are for or those against. Friday is the worst time to have it as it adversely affects restaurants who make their profit on Friday night and Saturday night. There is no doubt that some stores do make money from the traffic generated by the Farmers Market and apparently the City does get some revenue from the event. I question the wisdom of backing "visitor vendors" and not backing the brick and mortar businesses that have invested in "main street" and are the reason that the Village is what it is today. I have mixed feelings about the LMVA being left out. There seems to be tow La Mesa Villages; one east of Spring St. and one west of Spring St. My impression is that those "villagers" west of Spring St. are treated like the step child by the LMVA. Do those businesses benefit from the Farmers Market?— July 30, 2019 7:52 a.m.
San Diego Unified paid $400k for claim against Lincoln High coach
Apparently it was investigated and the DA found that there was not sufficient evidence to prosecute. That does not mean that there was no evidence just not enough, in the DA's opinion, to convince a jury that the evidence was "beyond a reasonable doubt". It is not what you know or what you think it is what you can prove.— July 27, 2019 8:42 a.m.
Oceanside Cemetery vs. Breeze Luxury Townhouses
Never get in the way of greedy developers and the corrupt politicians that they own and operate. If developers had their way there would be no history as they would tear down anything and everything to pave over and redevelop the site. Cemeteries be damned.— July 25, 2019 8:41 a.m.
San Diego’s campaign against Round Up
Round Up is a product name. If you go to __________ (insert Lowes, Ace, Dixieline, Home Depot, etc.) and look at the active ingredient in Round Up and the active ingredient in generic weed killer it is the same.— July 25, 2019 8:29 a.m.
Union-Tribune wants community conversations
The first thing you need to know about "team building" is that s**t never falls up.— July 25, 2019 8:26 a.m.
