Is California sex-ed anti-immigrant?
Not really. The Middle Eastern culture treats women as second class. While the men are free to dress as they wish and do what they wish the women are held to a strict religious dress code. They are not free to chose what they wear or to what jobs they aspire. The men are king and the women are servants of the king. Women's rights are non existent. Middle Eastern culture (religion if you wish) is not compatible with American culture.— November 2, 2019 8:23 a.m.
Squatters' paradise on Sunset Cliffs
The City of San Diego has always prided itself on being a small city. Actually it has always been small thinking they they are proud of. San Diego is a big city with big city problems and has small thinking city leaders. The fire department is too small, the police department is too small the rest of the city services are "small town" with inadequate staff and equipment. Quality of life issues are at the bottom of the list which is why there are so many neglected crime and blight ridden neighborhoods.— November 2, 2019 8:15 a.m.
San Diego retirement system man on the go

Is California sex-ed anti-immigrant?
By the time the school got around to teaching us about sex (7th grade) we all knew more than the teacher. Teaching about health is always good but leave the specifics (and pictures) out of it.— October 31, 2019 7:32 a.m.
Convention center group refunds GEO money
Private prisons are run by and staffed by losers who could not meet the standards of a government run prison. The administrators are charged with making a profit. They pay low wages and no/low benefits. The private prison system is rife with corruption from the top down.— October 30, 2019 7:20 a.m.
Colorful vendors hope for Oceanside Strand future
If you want colorful street vendors go to Tijuana.— October 30, 2019 7:17 a.m.
La Mesa approves 5G amid dissent
La Mesa City Council has two choices: 1. Do nothing and let the 5G industry dictate where and how large or 2. Do what they did so that they could have some input and control. As for the NIMBY's if it were up to them we would still have no electricity and would be scooping up after horses. If radio frequencies were as bad as the NIMBY's claim we would all have brain cancer or would glow in the dark. The fear of anything new is what holds back human progress. The City Council did what they had to do and what was in the best interest of the citizens.— October 30, 2019 7:14 a.m.
Del Mar puts off sea rise plan
Sounds like you are one of those "get what you can, can what you get and sit on the can."— October 26, 2019 8:21 a.m.
The fight over San Diego High School
Organized labor only represents the worker in contract negotiations. Every employee should have a contract with their employer. A labor contract contains labor/management agreement on wages, hours and working conditions. Labor unions do not dictate to the employer how to run their business. In the case of schools the Teachers Union negotiates on behalf of the teachers. The school administrators are free to run the school as the school board sees fit (and state law dictates). And, yes, a union worker can be fired. The difference is that the union worker can only be fired for cause not just because.— October 26, 2019 8:19 a.m.
Abortion and carpetbagging dominate 50th Congressional seat debate
One think you can count on is that the East County voters will vote against their own self interest. There is no limit to the stupidity of the East County voter.— October 24, 2019 7:46 a.m.
