San Diego's auditor finds stolen water, mother supervising son, city cars parked in red zone
I think they should name the businesses but there are laws that prevent an employer from identifying an employee. The biggest problem with the City is their lack of qualified supervisors. Many, if not most, front line supervisors are in their position only because they have been around a long time and not because they are qualified. Just because someone has been doing a job for a long time does not mean they know how to supervise.— January 16, 2020 7:02 a.m.
Speedway invades San Diego
There are still people that think that brand name gas is better than off brand. All gas comes to the Mission Valley "tank farm" via a pipeline. The gas is then distributed by tanker trucks. Some of the trucks are "branded" but are carrying the same gas that the unbranded trucks carry. The only difference is that branded gas is priced higher.— January 15, 2020 7:10 a.m.
The North County battle over artificial turf
I thought that artificial turn was the answer to water conservation. I replaced the grass in my back yard with artificial turf. (front yard did not have grass). It look great at least for a while. Unlike the ads artificial turf needs to be maintained or it mats down. It does heat up with the sun so that when it is hot out you can not walk on it without shoes and it is too hot for pets. If you have dual pane windows and the sun reflects off them onto the artificial turf it will melt. After having it for two years I took it out and put in grass.— January 15, 2020 7:03 a.m.
