Virus sets up San Diego fight over paying rent
Landlords are in a tough position. If a tenant does not pay rent what do you do? Of course you can evict them but that can take three to six months. Then once you have gotten rid of the tenant you have to prep the place for rental. Who is going to rent it? Smart landlords will work with their tenants but how many landlords are smart.— April 9, 2020 7:32 a.m.
Oceanside anguishes over its businesses
Loans are exactly that loans. Money loaned needs to be repaid. Most small businesses, mom & pop types and those with a few employees, will be broke by months end and will never be able to reopen. Those that can survive until they can get a loan of any kind will be unable to repay them. The local rags the post bankruptcy notices will be adding a lot more pages of legal notices. If you take the best case scenario a vaccine for Covid19 will take 12 - 18 months and even longer to produce enough to vaccinate everyone. We are in for a rough financial ride. Local & state governments will have little money left to do anything and will be looking for ways to increase taxes.— April 9, 2020 7:26 a.m.
No shelter for San Diego Home/Garden Lifestyles Magazine
Sad when a business closes but in the grand scheme of things I don't think most people will miss the magazine. The people who subscribe are not those who count themselves in the middle class or working class. The only time most people even see the magazine is when they are in some waiting room with nothing else to read.— April 9, 2020 7:10 a.m.
Tijuana's MiCredito loans to Daniel Covarrubias' trash truck business
What happened to the conservative mantra of self sufficiency, personal responsibility, limited government and the ever-present fear of socialism? Now they are lined up to get on the public dole. All of a sudden the Oceanside City Council is worried about workers? Who are these businesses going to pay first? The landlord? The insurance company? Wages? Benefits? The biggest City Council concern is how to take care of their big money donors while pretending to care for the hourly worker and small business.— April 8, 2020 8:14 a.m.
Who will rent San Diego's Airbnbs?
No matter the economy there will be people who will rent an Airbnb. More and more housing developments are gated or have homeowner associations with rules/regulations and CC&R's which dictate landscaping and home businesses and subletting. In areas where there are a majority of gated communities (Coachella Valley) they don't have the issues that Debra describes.— April 8, 2020 7:50 a.m.
Do the Vista Home Boys recruit like the Marines?
Gangs are terrorist organizations and members are terrorists. They should be treated as such. Gang members should be rounded up and incarcerated for life. The only good gang banger is a dead one.— April 7, 2020 7:42 a.m.
No meat, no waste, no dining in: newly opened The Plot goes express
I have a plot. It is at a cemetery.— April 7, 2020 7:39 a.m.

Buona Forchetta makes the best of it in Coronado
One of the thinks that a business should consider before renting is to find out how the previous tenant was treated.— April 3, 2020 7:54 a.m.
