McNabb Martin Contemporary Art
McNabb Martin Contemporary Art Gallery opened April 1, 2011, at the corner of Grape and Columbia Streets, with a diverse collection of contemporary artwork in a spacious gallery setting. With an emphasis on unique original pieces, the gallery showcases an array of style and media, and tries to capture the feel and flavor of a Chicago gallery, owner Pat McNabb Martin’s hometown.
From the monumental ceramics of Cybele Rowe, which honor the shifting forms and forces of nature, to the three-dimensional, sculptural, and nontraditional painting techniques of Matthew Alexis, to James Shilaimon’s stylized expression that delivers a vivid contemporary approach to a familiar subject; each of the gallery’s 25 artists pushes the envelope and brings something unique to the table with innovative, edgy work. Each artist is distinctly different in style and the type of media they choose to make their art.
