Main Attraction
In the 1950s and 1960s, the lot at 939 North Coast Highway hosted a roadside bar and restaurant called the he Wheel Club where locals like Barbara Mandrell performed. In the 1970s, it became the 101 Club, and then the First Edition disco club fir a couple of years. In 1981, it became a top 40 dance club called Francine’s, before evolving into a female nude strip club, Pure Platinum in the late 1980s.
After becoming the Main Attraction strip club, it was known to locals as “the purple church,” hosting between eight to 20 ladies a night who danced on stage around a brass pole while a DJ spins “Cherry Pie” or “Pour Some Sugar on Me.”
In late 2018, it was reported that the Main Attraction would be closed and the local would instead host a five-story housing complex.
