Leroy’s Kitchen + Lounge
Leroy’s was opened by the team that owns MooTime Creamery, Village Pizzeria, and Lil’ Piggy’s BBQ. The restaurant’s decor resembles a miniature Cucina Italiana — lots of warm-hued wood, wine bottles along the back wall, and a spangly-looking bar with muted TVs playing sports. The dining-room banquette seating is comfortable, with a convivial noise level, including padded chairs and spacious tables.
After JC Colon, an Urban Kitchen Group veteran, took over the kitchen at Leroy's, the menu's focus narrowed. Colon abandoned most of the former menu's attempts at Southern comfort food, pushing the menu towards more conventional "New American" cooking. While the result is less adventurous, the food is better all around. Neither disappointing nor mind-boggling, Leroy's sits in a comfortable middle-ground. Prices have climbed in tandem with that improved confidence in the kitchen's work, and entrees over $25 are many.
