IRC in San Diego has resettled thousands refugees from dozens of countries since its inception in 1975. One of 29 chapters of IRC, the 2nd largest refugee resettlement agency in the U.S. has two locations, in City Heights and El Cajon, staffed by 80 employees and supported by over 400 volunteers contributing more than 30,000 hours per year.
The budget of $8 million per year is locally sourced from grants and individual contributions and provides services such as employment and housing assistance, language training, student tutoring, women's mentoring, health care assistance and more for newly arrived displaced persons.
