Ballast Point Old Grove Brewery (Permanently Closed)

From a smallish brewhouse in the back of a homebrewing supply store sprung what would go on to be named the Best Small Brewing Company at the 2010 World Beer Cup and one of San Diego’s best all-around operations. The company is now headquartered in a Scripps Ranch production facility with a long, spacious tasting bar that’s been expanded to include an outdoor patio where mobile food vendors can set up. The beer selection is voluminous and sweeping, and includes barrel-aged, specialty cask, and magnificent chili-infused brews. Service is friendly and adept if not often overwhelmed.
