The present and the future — where I’ll be and who will be in my life. I think a lot. I think about all the days until high school’s over and I’m in college. I want to go to Virginia Tech. They’re an up-and-coming school — good sports program, good for chemistry and stuff.

I would say the past. But I would like to think about the future. Starting today I’ve been thinking about the future more. It’s a lot brighter. I’ve stopped worrying about the past because things are happening for me. Family and health are very big for me — I care a lot what happens to my family. My mom had cancer, and my grandfather had diabetes. That’s been on my mind. But now, it’s more like that’s in my past. They’re okay, so I can think about the future now.

Wow. Well, I think about the past a lot because memories and photos and nostalgia are really important to me. I think about the future a lot because I’m in a place where I’m trying to figure out my life and figure out what’s next. But a big focus in my current life is staying in the present, and being present, being mindful, being aware of the life that I’m living today. I’m constantly thinking about today and what I have to do today, but then I think a lot about my life and what my wedding will be like and what my future career’s going to be like.

I think more about the past, what I could have done better. Mostly school and that I should have kept going. I could have probably had something better by now. Now I have responsibilities — I have my son, I have my wife. I have more responsibilities than I used to have back then. A few years back, back in high school, that’s when I started making mistakes. I wish I could go back and redo those things; I would do them way better. All the wrong decisions I made back then are costing me now.

Probably the future, because I’m a college student. I’m studying computer science and management science at UCSD. I’ve got my whole future ahead of me, so I think about what’s going to happen post graduation. College prepares you for the future. My parents are actually taking care of my student loans, so I don’t have to worry about that.

Future. I think about my five- to ten-year plan. It’s more so what I need to do now in order to prepare for what I want five years from now. I want to have my own business, working for myself. And I want to have a close-knit community, whether it’s a partner, or family, or friends. I’m going to school to become a holistic health practitioner. I want to have my own space where I’ll offer massage, a few herbs, and nutrition.
