I grew up in New York. In Yonkers. Steven Tyler of Aerosmith went to my high school. I was class of ’72, and he was class of ’67. He was always in garage bands, and we often saw them perform. When he formed Aerosmith, we saw them win a “battle of the bands” competition in Yonkers. And before he became Tyler. His real last name is Tallarico. He’s Italian. He was phenomenal even back then.

I went to Hoover High here in San Diego. That’s Ted Williams’s high school. He went there long before me, but there was a huge picture of him and everyone always talked about him playing baseball there. The field was named after the hall-of-famer. I didn’t play any sports while attending Hoover.

I went to the same middle school as two members of the band Paramore. They did the song “All We Know Is Falling,” and two songs, “Decode” and “I Caught Myself,” were in the movie Twilight. They went to Franklin Classical in Nashville. That’s a private Christian school. A lot of famous people lived in Franklin, though. A lot of country stars. Carrie Underwood moved there from Texas. Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, and Miley Cyrus all live there, too.

I went to Point Loma High, and we had Gabriel Wisdom, the former KGB DJ. La’Roi Glover, who played football for SDSU and then in the NFL for a number of years. And Jason Scheff, who’s been the singer and bassist of the band Chicago.

I don’t know how famous Michael Pittman is. He went to Mira Mesa High School about seven years after me. He’s been an NFL running back for at least the last seven or eight years. But a friend from my class of ’86 told me that someone in our class was at the reunion and very successful. He apparently invented Autobots. He might be the most successful guy to ever attend our school. But I have no clue what his name is.

I don’t know how famous he is, but Jerry [Trainor], who plays the older brother on iCarly. It’s a Nickelodeon show about a girl that has her own web show. He’s done other things: the show Drake and Josh and the movies Donnie Darko and Bring It On Again. He went to Uni with me. We were in the same group that all went to prom together and graduated in ’95. He always wanted to act. In high school he was into drama.
