Richard John Muscio
June 3, 1958 - March 24, 2024
Richard John Muscio left us on Palm Sunday, March 24th 2024. Born on June 3, 1958 in Richmond, California he was known as a loving husband, father, uncle, friend and mentor. A special place in his heart was reserved for his beloved animals. Graduating class Valedictorian at El Capitan high school in 1978 was just the beginning of the many accomplishments he experienced during his life cut short by cancer. Richard went on to graduate with honors from the University of San Diego where he developed his career serving others as a California Certified Public Accountant. He created an award winning radio show called It’s Your Money and Your Life which was recognized at the San Diego Press Club Awards. He cofounded the Oceanside Turkey Trot and Move Your Feet Before You Eat foundation for the benefit of the local community. He created the VAS fund helping women find a sense of dignity while suffering from the side effects of cancer.
Richard had a passion for sports, loved running, was considered an A player on the tennis court, and knew any baseball fact that any one man could. He supported Title 9 and rights for women. In 2016 he ran the Boston Marathon. A few year later he returned to help a blind man accomplish their goal by guiding him hand over hand for a designated portion as they ran together through the city streets. He was a generous and respected person known to give of his time to help and mentor others in achieving their dreams. As one client commented, “Richard was a Prince,” while another said “I will miss his smiling face and absolute grace. Richard was also a co-owner and driving force behind the Hawaii Pro Tennis Tournament.
We were fortunate to have him in our life. Richard was proceeded in death by his father Robert Dean Muscio and is survived by wife Mari Catherine Muscio, children Evan, Mia, Demi, mother Dolores Muscio, brother Bob Muscio, sister Janet Muscio and brother in law Bill McGraw, nieces Danielle and Melissa, sister in law Kelly O’Donnell and cousin Marybeth Ludwig. A gathering and celebration of life be held for family and close friends at a date yet to be determined.
