Shannon Butts Mansueto
June 6, 1956 - December 31, 2016
Shannon Butts Mansueto passed away peacefully near the end of 2016 at Coronado Hospital with her family by her side, after a prolonged stay. Shannon was beloved mother of three Coronado children, and wife to Dr. Bob Masueto for over 25 years. Shannon was born in Coronado hospital June 6, 1956, daughter of Navy Admiral John and Peggy Butts. Shannon grew up in Coronado and other Naval stations from Hawaii to the East Coast…but Coronado was always home. Shannon was active in Coronado Schools volunteer work for many years, where she attended Coronado High School in the 70s, as did her husband Bob, and later, all three children. Shannon was a second mother to an entire generation of Coronado children while her three children were growing up. The Mansueto household always welcomed in many kids and teenagers and helped many through difficult times; they knew they always had a home and loving adult to go to, whenever needed. Shannon was an accomplished scuba diver and enjoyed many diving adventures with her husband Bob. Shannon was also a rising star in the pension and insurance business where she and her husband worked together for many years. Before that, she worked previously as a para legal in Coronado. Shannon’s son Bobby Jr. predeceased her in 2012, at age 20, from a jump off the Coronado Bridge. Shannon is survived by her husband Bob Mansueto; her children Steven Mansueto and Kelsey Masueto; her sister Dana Butts Nemeth, (also a Coronado High School graduate). Shannon’s ever loving personality, warm smile and infectious laugh is deeply missed by her family and the the generation of Coronadans that knew her as a second mom. The family had a private ceremony. In accordance with Shannon’s wishes, her ashes were scattered at the exact location as her son Bobby’s. The family asks that any donations be made to the Coronado Bridge Suicide Prevention organization headed by Wayne Strickland.
