Breweries that have been around for decades and built a legion of faithful followers often face a conundrum: do you stock the tasting room taps with long-time favorites or remove some to make room for experiments? There are only so many taps, and while you can't afford to get stale in the beer business, the thought of banishing a beloved brew rightly gives one pause. Stone Brewing’s new line aims to find a happy balance between old favorites and new discoveries.
“We have an entire team of innovation brewers who work exclusively on small brewing systems to develop new and exciting beers every day, says Lizzie Younkin, Director of Communications and Public Relations at Stone Brewing, when discussing the brewery’s latest line, which releases a new beer every month. "We love putting these on draft at our Stone Brewing Tap Rooms and Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens locations and our fans love discovering what we’ve been working on. Packaging a series of our favorites is a great offering for our fans. These are only available at our locations, so we hope it helps bring people in to discover more.” The beers on slate are a combination of retired classics, cult favorites, and new, experimental recipes.
The first brewery exclusive release was Lifeblurred Imperial Brown Ale. Released back in January, the 11% dark brown ale featured Cascade hops along with notes of toffee, chocolate, and coffee. Originally brewed last year, it earned a gold medal for Strong/Imperial Brown Ale at the 2024 U.S. Open Beer Championship.
February saw the release of Enjoy By 4.20.25. The 9.4% Double IPA is reminiscent of the popular line of Enjoy By beers which celebrated various holidays throughout the year and was popular for its hop-heavy bill. Now, Stone has resurrected the concept for just this one “holiday” as a brewery exclusive.
Next in line is She’s the Brewer, an 8.5% IPA released March 5. The ale is brewed with a blend f Mosaic, Simcoe, Chinook, Krush, and Magnum hops, giving it notes of orange, pineapple, and grapefruit with a citrus aroma. The clear, golden IPA balances sweetness and bitterness and ends with a dry finish. Younkin notes, “She’s The Brewer West Coast IPA is really special in that it’s brewed with the 8th Annual Pink Boots Hop Blend. This is a blend of hops offered to all breweries by Yakima Chief Hops. One dollar of every pound of hops sold goes back to the Pink Boots Society. This beer was developed and brewed by women at Stone.”
In addition to its availability at Stone restaurants and tasting rooms, She’s the Brewer was part of Stone’s International Women’s Day Beer Dinner which consisted of a three-course dinner with selected beer pairings. If you missed it, not to worry: Stone has a separate upcoming event for another of its brewery exclusives: Wagner’s Beer & Cigar Smoke Out on April 17 will honor the aforementioned Enjoy By 4.20.25. The Jamaican-inspired five-course menu with feature paired beers and three curated cigars.
