On March 15, history will be made in Vista's Moonlight Amphitheatre: the 2025 Farmers Cup will become the first state and locally licensed cannabis event in San Diego County. This highly anticipated gathering — formally titled The Farmers Cup Awards Sesh: Harvest Edition — will bring together industry professionals, cannabis connoisseurs, and music lovers for a day packed with competition, community, and complimentary tokes and hits. Live performances from weed-centric artists will help set the vibe for a music festival packed with hits, riffs, and spliffs.
The event marks a milestone for the cannabis industry, as both sales and on-site consumption will be permitted. (Cake House Dispensary will handle all purchases exclusively, to help ensure compliance with California’s strict regulations.)
“This will be a cannabis adventure that sparks curiosity and brings together enthusiasts, cultivators, and innovators,” says Joshua Caruso, co-founder and CEO of the Farmers Cup. “The City of Vista has welcomed us, and we’re ecstatic to be hosting this historic event.”
The Farmers Cup has come a long way since its grassroots beginnings in 2015. Originally known as the San Diego Cannabis Farmers Market, it started as an underground competition, but it has gradually evolved into a globally recognized industry event, partnering with licensed brands, dispensaries, and testing labs that help the industry to maintain credibility and transparency.
“Winning at the Farmers Cup gives brands street cred because many of our judges are everyday consumers, not just industry insiders,” Caruso explained in a previous interview with San Diego Weeder.
The event’s Vendor Village will feature over 50 booths showcasing cannabis brands, accessories, and merch. While no free take-home samples will be available, most vendors will offer tastings, giving attendees the chance to experience products before purchasing. Think of it like a Costco-style sampling setup, except with weed, wax, and edibles. (Maybe bring some sunglasses and a hat and go for twofers.)
Live music will fuel the atmosphere throughout the day. Berner, the rapper and entrepreneur behind Cookies—the multi-state dispensary chain and cannabis lifestyle brand—will perform, and will also smoke out with the crowd. The Luniz, famous for their weed anthem "I Got Five on It," will also take the stage. (The last time I filmed Luniz performing, they had a Cheech & Chong-sized blunt, and Farmers Cup has been known to replicate similar oversized joints at past events.) Other artists set to perform include E.N. Young, Nightshade Navarro, Soul Spittaz, and Peter Dante, with DJ Gummie handling the turntables.
The gates for The Farmers Cup Awards Sesh: Harvest Edition will open at 11 AM, with VIP access available at 10:30 AM for those who want first dibs on the vendor booths and premium — (cough, cough) — experiences. Tickets are available now; attendees must be 21 or older to enter.
Expect a crowd of cannabis enthusiasts ready to spark up, link up, and celebrate this milestone moment for cannabis in San Diego County. Tickets are available at EventHi. For vendor inquiries and more information, visit the website.
