Singer/songwriter Kinnie Dye grew up in Oklahoma, before spending close to a decade in New York City. After relocating to San Diego, she opened for Jewel and played with her band the Yes Team. She cites among her influences Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Jewel, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Reba McEntire, Shania Twain, and the Dixie Chicks.
Music Matters Benefit Concert at AleSmith Brewing Company

Reggae rockers Sandollar headline the Music Matters Benefit Concert, which will feature a silent auction with all proceeds from the event going directly to the nonprofit TMC, funding its affordable workspaces, educational programs, and community-building initiatives for music makers of all backgrounds. The bill includes Kela Sako, whose latest release Speed Bumps debuted at number four on the iTunes Reggae chart, and Hannah Geller, who fuses psychedelic, progressive, blues, surf, and alternative rock.

A 1999 honor graduate of San Dieguito Academy in Encinitas, Ravi Shankar’s daughter Anoushka Shankar grew up in San Diego. She brings to this ArtPower event a new band of musicians with whom she has carved out a new, multifaceted and dynamic sound as they perform music from her three newly-released mini-albums Chapter I: Forever, For Now, Chapter II: How Dark it Is Before Dawn. The performance also celebrates this month’s release of Chapter III (Untitled), alongside thoroughly shaken-up, reinterpreted gems from her previous releases, including the Grammy-nominated live album Between Us.

Shawn Rohlf is a multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, actor, and music teacher who first made a local mark with the 7th Day Buskers, which won a San Diego Music Award as Best Americana Band. Growing up in the small town of Elk River, Minnesota, his career started at age nine with guitar lessons and a four-year stint in the Land of Lakes Choirboys. The mid-to-late '80s found him making waves with his original group the Hillwilliams, though he’s now fronting his own Shawn Rohlf Band. Also appearing will be Rookie Card and Ypsitucky.
