Before writing songs for the Eagles and others, Jack Tempchin lived in Banker’s Hill in 1970 through 1971. He often performed at a Mission Beach watering hole called the Heritage (where, for a time, Tom Waits manned the door). His songs have been covered by The Paladins, ex-Byrd Chris Hillman, George Jones, Glen Campbell, Tanya Tucker, Emmylou Harris, Johnny Rivers, Jay Z, Coolio, Trisha Yearwood, and others.

Jazz bassist Rob Thorsen has been a staple of the local scene for years, collaborating regularly with Gilbert Castellanos, Geoffrey Keezer, Ben Wendel, Duncan Moore, Joshua White, and Charlie Chavez, and many others. His Rob Thorsen Trio performs music by jazz greats (Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, George Gershwin, etc.), along with his own original compositions inspired and informed by the sights and sounds of Costa Rica.

Originally based in Santa Cruz and often featuring ten or more members, Boostive is known for blending Afrobeat, hip hop, world music, and ambient electronic music. They’ve worked and recorded with locals Slightly Stoopid and collaborated with artists such as Divina Dub. The bill includes Sure Fire Soul Ensemble, who have won San Diego Music Awards for Best Recording and Best Blues Album.

Manzanita Blues was formed in 2017 as a blues cover band, playing rockin’ blues around San Diego’s East County. They began writing and performing original music in 2019 and released their first CD in 2020, Manzanita Blues TO DAY (See Through Records).

Blair Gun was founded by pals who played basketball together as kids, augmented by players recruited on the site BandMix. Their sophomore album, There Are No Rival Clones Here, dropped last June via Enabler No. 6 Records and sonaBLAST, preceded by a single for “The Thief.” Also appearing will be Virginia Crime and Misfire.
