I live on the streets
I just read the article entitled (“Balboa Park – fewer rules than homeless shelters”, Cover Stories, June 3, 1993) and I have to say, I can’t tell if it’s supposed to be fiction or nonfiction. But I do know this: if it’s fiction it’s well written. If it’s nonfiction, it’s bullshit. I live on the streets and if you ever want a story about life out here, I can give you some nitty-gritty. I just hope the author of that story isn’t trying to pass it off as and authentic experience cuz I promise you it was bullshit.

The Streets
It is supposed to be nonfiction. It’s possible that things have changed on the streets since the story’s original publication in 1993. Please submit story ideas via the Reader website. — Ed.
Mythical beliefs
Regarding (“Conservative brains explained”, Letters, Jan. 15, 2025) I am going to cut out Voltaire Fils’ letter and put it on my refrigerator door for reference. I have been telling people the science behind conservatism for years now. Voltaire sums it all up nicely. Science can tell us so much about human behavior that we could theoretically learn from. Too bad so many humans feel “disdain for education combined with their credulity regarding certain mythical beliefs.”
(I obviously an using an alias in the “name” window. I don’t need any of those conservative a-holes showing up at my house or on my phone.)
